Job Description

Job Summary

  • expose students to spoken, written and visual texts in Mandarin
  • empower students to appreciate and engage with Mandarin and Mandarin literature

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Native level (or near) Mandarin
  • Ability to read and write traditional Chinese characters
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Efficient level of ICT literacy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Desired

  • Qualifications in an educational field
  • Experience using MacOS and GSuite for Education

Planning and Preparing

  • Support Kindergarten teachers in setting up developmentally appropriate learning opportunities which support play, exploration and discovery, based on interests, passions and abilities of students

Supporting Student Learning

  • Provide opportunities for students to be play in Mandarin and to be exposed to Mandarin texts
  • Lead small learning groups based on teacher plans and direction
  • Provide meaningful and constructive feedback to students
  • Discuss student learning with teachers
  • Assist students according to situation and need
  • Engage with students during eating and play times
  • Accompany students on study trips

Managing Learning Environments

  • Set up and maintain the classroom so it is a safe environment which supports learning
  • Use the classroom as the “Third Teacher”
  • Provide regular opportunities for students to learn outdoors
