Job Description-Kindergarten Homeroom Teacher
Position: Kindergarten Teacher
Contract Type: Full Time
Start Date: August 2024
Essential Requirements:
Preferably, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through an education degree or equivalent, such as iPGCE/PGCE. Minimum 2 years’ experience as a qualified teacher.
Updated Police clearance check, less than 6 months old.
Native English Speaker, fluent in spoken and written English.
Love of teaching and working with young people.
Experience and confidence to teach across the Kindergarten, Pre K to K3.
Ability to engage, inspire and extend students through planning, preparation and delivery of excellent lessons. Ability to ensure that marking, recording, assessment and reporting meet the academic and pastoral needs of each individual student.
Willingness to make a full contribution to the extracurricular programme.
Ability to build good relationships with students, parents and colleagues and demonstrate effective communication skills.
Resilience, adaptability, patience, flexibility, a hard-working attitude, and a commitment to teamwork which are all essential requirements inside a bi-lingual school.
Desirable:
Knowledge and experience working with children for whom English is an additional language.
Experienced in overseas environment.
Proven record of improving standards through high quality teaching, especially inquiry based learning, project based learning.
An understanding of how Assessment for Learning can improve children’s performance.
Knowledge of how to challenge and differentiate for children of varying abilities.
Knowledge and understanding of positive disciplinary methods.
Ability to offer a specialist subject (e.g. Music, Art or PE).
Willingness to learn, and develop through personal development as a teacher.
Professionalism
Maintain the highest levels of professionalism as demanded of all employees of Bona Sonority School Nanjing (BSSN). Be punctual, smart and appropriately dressed and to behave in such a manner as is appropriate in line with the requirements laid out in our Staff Code of Conduct.
Lead by example in all professional matters in line with the UK Teaching Standards and the standards expected by BSSN.

Actively promote and develop the ethos and values of the School.
Uphold the expectations made by BSSN in regards to children’s behaviour.
Support and attend all major School events.
Maintain a teaching load appropriate to the position, including the leading of extracurricular activities both in the School day, evenings and weekends as appropriate, and as agreed with the Principal and Head of Kindergarten.
Meet deadlines in a timely manner.
Set high expectations both academically and socially/emotionally for all children in your care.
Participate in marketing events to promote BSSN to the local community.
Teaching and Learning
Support the learning programme within the Kindergarten by following the Kindergarten bi-lingual curriculum.
Plan and organise activities to meet the learning and development needs of the class as a whole and each individual. Plan, prepare and document lessons on a regular basis.
Manage curriculum delivery and associated resources in a manner that challenges and interests children and is appropriate to their needs and skill-levels, including catering for children with SEN, EAL and higher abilities.
Take responsibility for curriculum delivery and associated resources in a manner consistent with the School’s and departmental policies and procedures.
Create written medium and short term planning to ensure that pupils develop at an appropriate pace, with clear differentiated planning and teaching.
Use IT to support and extend the curriculum.
Supervise and teach children during extracurricular activities.
Assessment
Maintain an ongoing formative assessment programme related to units of work and associated learning objectives. Maintain formative and summative assessment results.
Monitor the work of children providing guidance and advice when needed.
Write and maintain relevant records for individual children’s files.
Follow the School’s Marking Policy.
Write high quality and accurate reports on children’s performance for internal and external use as required.
Environment
Ensure that the Kindergarten environment is warm and welcoming for both children, staff and parents.
Assist the Head of Kindergarten in ensuring it is safe and secure and that the space is well-organised and used appropriately.
Provide a stimulating learning environment through creative and interactive displays and stimulating learning areas.
Health and Safety
Ensure that the safety of the children remains central in all we do.
Complete Safeguarding training as directed by the School and follow the BSSN Safeguarding Policy.
Follow BSSN policies with regard to the health and safety of children both on and off the School premises when children are under the School’s jurisdiction.
Take a pastoral interest in children in both the curriculum and extra-curricular activities so that they feel noticed and valued.
Supervise children as determined by the duty roster.
Supervise classes on behalf of colleagues as determined by the cover schedule.
Professional Development
Keep up to date with curriculum developments through reading, in-service training and peer observations. Participate when required in BSSN Staff Development and INSET and to attend staff meetings and briefings as required, some of which may be outside normal working hours.
Support the BSSN Development Plan.
Participate in the annual Performance Management Review.
Seek CPD opportunities that may arise from the appraisal process.
Attend meetings designed to share information necessary for the smooth running of the school and the successful delivery of its programmes.
Take responsibility for mentoring new teachers, particularly those with whom a functional relationship exists.
Communication
Actively establish and maintain open, honest communication with parents regarding the physical, social, intellectual and emotional development of their child.
Communicate and consult with parents on a regular basis and in a timely manner.
Attend Parents’ Evenings as required.
Report to parents in the form of written reports as required by the Principal and Head of Kindergarten.
Collaborate with colleagues in areas of planning and assessment and whole school initiatives.
Support colleagues as necessary and work co-operatively as part of a team.
Contribute to the supervision and instruction of support staff as required.
Remuneration and welfare categories:Gross base salary CNY 23,000-35,000

Flight Reimbursement:10,000 as your airfare after finish first-year contract; CNY 5,000 reimbursement after completion of contract (from/to home country to/from Nanjing)
Annual Performance Bonus:1. Annual bonus based on Performance-half month gross base salary 2. Re-sign 2 years contract bonus CNY 5,000
Visa fees reimbursement:Up to CNY 7,000 reimbursement
School Places: 80% off (only tuition fee, excluding items otherwise charged at cost, such as catering, school bus, uniform for 1st child)
