Grand Mercure Auckland is seeking a strong, reliable and dedicated Kitchen Hand/ Trainee Chef to join our Kitchen Team.
Currently we are operating as a Managed Isolation Facility supporting the New Zealand boarder team to host self-isolating guests. Our obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 is to take all reasonable, practicable steps to eliminate, or otherwise control, known risks. Therefore, we operate in a level 4 environment at all times. With full PPE and WHS protocols in place.
To apply for this role all applicants must have or be willing to receive the COVID19 Vaccination upon commencing employment. Working at New Zealand's border at this time is a high-risk working environment, and the COVID-19 vaccination provides a significant additional control to protect our people, their loved ones, and the wider community against the virus.
Successful candidates must also be willing to undertake mandatory COVID-19 swab every 14 days.
The main component of this role is to hygienically clean crockery, cutlery and other kitchen equipment, rubbish removal, collecting deliveries, sweeping and mopping of kitchen floors to ensure ongoing cleanliness & kitchen Hygiene.
In this role you would also be providing support to our kitchen team, duties may include but are not limited to basic food preparation; grating, peeling and chopping. This is a fantastic opportunity to get a 'taste' of kitchen life!
Work Experience
- Ability to work under pressure with a 'Can do' attitude and a high level of energy
- Ability to work on a rotating roster over 7 days if required, including weekends, public holidays and nights.
- Experienced with high volume of food (kitchen cleaning for at least 300 meals at breakfast, lunch and dinner)
- Be able to lift at least 20kg
- Exposure to basic food preparation
- Rubbish management
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand for a minimum of 12 months
