Business Process Optimizer VBA reporting development)(Data & Analytical Services – Mindshare, China

Overview of job
Utilize VBA to conduct the secondary script development on Office platform to realize data cleaning and data integration so as to reduce the costs media agency spends on data integration during business process optimization.

Reporting of the role:
This role reports to the General Manager, Data Analytics & Services.

  • Develop VBA scripts to enhance the capability and efficiency of data reporting for business teams. Helps users solve the perplexities on periodically producing business reports.
  • Develop data reporting to enable clients to better generate insights from advertising data and aid clients to adjust their strategies. Discover the beauty of data to better support business analytics.
  • Guide users to comprehend the value of these tools and promote the generalized solutions. Cooperate closely with business teams in order to look for ways of analysing advertising data.

Measures of success –

In three months:

  • Familiarize yourself with our existing reporting templates and understand how to compile concise and efficient VBA scripts.
  • Realize partial auto reporting functions for at least 2 clients. Be familiar with the objective, structure, and framework of excel programming.
  • Enhance the visualization and interactivity for clients’ KPI reporting.

In six months:

  • Provide at least 2 optimization suggestions on current KPI reporting visualization techniques. Based on existing practices, evaluate whether there are any improvement or alternative plans for current business optimization process.
  • Accomplish the revisions for the customizations of at least 2 standard data reporting automation. Build comprehensions on business analytic scenarios and conclusions for data reporting.
  • Complete at least one ad hoc data reporting automation project requested by business teams and participate in the development of project documents.

In 12 months:

  • Possess the full suite of capabilities to independently develop the visualization for KPI reporting including all key search and display metrics. Make yourself master of the key methods to use VBA script programming to produce reports.
  • Introduce report visualization in at least 3 new client pitches and promote KPI reporting visualization process to other clients.
  • Complete at least 3 ad hoc reporting automation projects.

Responsibilities of the role:

All standard reports generated at the group level have been customized according to our individual agency (and client) needs. Through tailor-made data mining methods, expend the standard reporting to meet the needs on analysing the data for daily advertising campaigns for campaign managers. Leverage VBA scripts to help business teams develop the tools which can be used for data cleaning and report integration in the long term.

What you will need:

  • A minimum of two years’ experiences actively using SQL to extract / transform / load data.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience automating key Excel functions and objectives using VBA.
  • A passion for data visualization, and quick learning ability to new knowledge.
  • A desire to expand your skill set beyond coding and develop your own communication skills.
  • A patient, methodical and detailed personality, with the ability to maintain your focus in complex environments, great data sense, and business acumen.
