The School of Music at the Academy offers comprehensive full-time programmes from Diploma to MMus level, together with its highly successful Junior Music Programme – comparable to the ‘Junior Schools’ of top-ranking conservatoires. In keeping with its conservatoire status, the School’s philosophy is centred on performance, and reflects the unique cultural mix of Hong Kong, with emphasis on both Western and Chinese traditions. The School comprises the Departments of Strings, Keyboard, Voice, Woodwind/Brass/Percussion (‘WBP’), Composition, Academic Studies, Junior Music and Chinese Music.
Applications are now invited for the post of Lecturer (Academic Studies in Music). The postholder is responsible for teaching core courses in aural skills at Undergraduate and Post Secondary Programmes; teaching, supervision and co-ordination of General Musicianship in the Junior Music Programme; curriculum review and course development when required. Some administrative duties and creative activity will be expected.
Applicants should have:
(a) Degree in Music or equivalent qualification; postgraduate training preferred but not required;
(b)Teaching experience at a tertiary level;
(c)Good communication skills in English and Cantonese.
(d)Experience in performance will be an asset.
