The School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts offers a dynamic range of production-related courses in performing and entertainment arts. From theatre to theme parks and live events, the School’s professionally-orientated programmes are designed to prepare students for exciting careers in entertainment and cultural industries. In addition to its MFA, BFA, Diploma and Certificate Programmes in Set and Costume Design, Costume Technology, Property Making, Scenic Art, Lighting Design and Technology, Sound Design and Technology, Music Production, Stage & Event Management and Technical Direction; recognising today’s and tomorrow’s needs for top production crew by local and regional entertainment companies, the School also offers fast track intensive courses.
The postholder will be responsible for teaching theoretical classes and conducting practical application workshops and tutorials as well as supervising students during rehearsal and performing periods. In addition to these responsibilities, the postholder will be expected to assist with curriculum planning and course development.
Required Qualifications:
(a) A degree in a relevant theatre technical arts discipline, or professional training to an equivalent level.
(b) Significant professional experience in the postholder’s area of specialism, with a primary focus in one or more of the followings:
- Concert sound/ lighting;
- Music production/ engineering;
- Video production/ engineering for live performances;
- Interactive media; or
- Digital media art.
(c) Full-time teaching in the specialism area of at least 2 years and/or part-time teaching of at least 4 years at tertiary level is expected.
(d) Professional design portfolio is required.
(e) Good communication skills in English. Chinese may be an advantage.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Appointment will be on a two-year contract with the possibility of renewal, subject to mutual agreement. A gratuity payment equal up to 15% of basic salary earned during the contract period will be payable upon satisfactory completion of contract. Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
