La Hacienda – Server

What you will be doing:
  • Come to work equipped with a wine key and a lighter.
  • Exhibit sincere hospitality. Go above and beyond for the guest.
  • Be obsessed with guest satisfaction.
  • Have complete knowledge of all products, procedures, and standards. Be an expert on all things restaurant related. Ace tests. Answer questions. Study.
  • Work to make other positions in the restaurant better. Servers have likely held almost every other position in the restaurant. Share that knowledge and pass it on to aspiring co-workers
  • Greets guests warmly with a smile, making eye contact. Listens to guests in order to understand them and thus offer a catered experience.
  • Describes menu features as needed, including menu changes, daily additions and 86’s.  Spiel beverages and upsell when available.
  • Ensures extraordinary table maintenance. Coordinate service at the table with support staff and other servers. Works with support staff in clearing and re-setting tables.  Work with food runners to run food.
  • Operates as a member of a team, helping others and requesting help as needed.
  • Performs other restaurant duties as requested by management.
  • Assists & supervises support staff in keeping side stations stocked with ample mise en place: i.e. glassware, share plates, marking trays, condiments, sugar, coffee, tea, etc.
  • Maintains a proper guest check throughout the entire experience. Makes sure the guest gets charged for everything they have and doesn’t get charged for anything that needs to get voided or comped. Drops a complete and accurate check when the guest is ready
  • Performs all assigned side work before, during, and after their shift. (bonus points for doing it with a smile) J
  • Communicates the needs of the guests to kitchen and management.
  • Informs management of guests’ reactions and comments. Assists management as needed to ensure smooth operation and quality service.
  • Helps add notes to our guest database for future visits.
  • Serves alcohol responsibly.  Serves alcoholic beverages only to guests over 21 years of age.  Cards guests when they appear to be under 40 years of age.  Informs a manager when a guest appears visibly intoxicated.
  • Helps to promote a safe and clean environment for co-workers and guests.
  • Operates under the “show me you know me” rule by using the guest’s name whenever possible. Knows and acknowledges all VIPs by name.
  • Promotes the company’s high level of service standards by exhibiting friendliness, knowledge of the restaurant, and attentiveness to guests’ needs. Is an expert on the restaurant as well as the development it lives in.


    Your experience and skills include:

  • Previous experience of at least one year in food and beverage
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
