Lab Network 2.0 program Lead F/M/X

Mars Global Services/ MGS Laboratories

 

Location: France, Aimargues (RCA) or any other MGS Laboratories location

Contract: permanent contract

 

Reporting to the Lab Transformation Director, the Lab Network 2.0 program Lead is responsible for the development and management of the program that defines and governs the execution of the unified strategy for insourcing and outsourcing testing capability across Mars Laboratories and external partner laboratories. The role is accountable to define and ensure the delivery of benefits associated with the evolution of the service model considering customer requirements, maximizing Laboratories capability and efficiency, and to drive simplification of the external laboratory landscape while strengthening our strategic partnerships for increased value.

 

What will be your responsibilities?

1) Lab Network 2.0 program management
-    Define the Lab Network 2.0 program scope, blueprint, success metrics, roadmap and plan
-    Identify stakeholders and align them on program priorities
-    Ensure clear roles and responsibilities, sponsorship and governance of the program
-    Manage relationship and communication to a wide range of senior stakeholders at Global and Regional levels
-    Set direction and coordinate activities, assign work and motivate project team members
-    Manage program schedule, budget and change requests
-    Perform effective program risk management
-    Report progress to the program steering group using defined governance mechanism and forums
-    Accountable for the delivery of program commitments and business benefits.

 

2)    Build a strategy for testing services delivery model
-    Partner with Mars Segments (Petcare, Mars Wrigley, Food) to understand testing needs for today and tomorrow (testing type, volume forecast, Service Level Agreement including Turnaround time)
-    Lead the definition of the strategy for chemistry and physical testing services delivery
-    Build prototypes for service model options to meet Service level Agreement and conduct benefits/risks assessment
-    Define guiding principles for internal vs external portfolio balance.

-    Partner with Laboratories digitalization and data lead to get access to the necessary data and ensure systems capability can enable the operating model changes that will benefit the business. 
-    Partner with Trade Compliance team, Regulatory Affairs and logistic teams to develop courier routes and enable testing samples shipping across borders when deemed necessary.

 

3)    Lead Regional Network reviews with Procurement co-pilot

-    Maximize efficiency of all internal regional labs through scope and portfolio adjustments in collaboration with regional lab Operations Directors
-    Partner with Procurement co-pilot to review possible scenario for each region and propose recommendation to the business about external partnerships for each region. 
-    Drive simplification of the external laboratory landscape and strengthen our strategic partnerships for increased value
-    Partner with Regional Lab Operations Directors to drive the deployment of the selected changes to the network
-    Partner with the Testing Capability Senior Scientist on the Access to Priority testing project (ensuring coverage for each manufacturing site)
-    Build technical specifications for external labs for tendering processes
-    Ensure network agility, resiliency and business continuity while balancing cost for lab network
-    Work closely with Procurement to manage commercial risk and drive further value for Labs

 

4)    Develop and coordinate the implementation of Global Strategic Suppliers management process with Procurement co-pilot and Leadership Team

-    Work closely with Procurement co-pilot on the definition of the Global Strategic Suppliers Management process including Key Performance Indicators defined with governance team, and the definition of a global governance structure to enhance Mars’ risk and opportunity management within the Labs supply base
-    Ensure the deployment of the Global Strategic Suppliers management process and partner with Strategic Partner labs to deliver consistent performance management and improve the value Mars receives for its spend

 

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Scientific or business-related subject
  • Lab experience required
  • Minimum of 7 years leadership experience at a regional or global level
  • Good knowledge of microbiology and chemistry testing, including business needs
  • Experience in leading and delivering complex projects
  • Outstanding stakeholder influencing and communication skills
  • Fluent in writing and speaking English
  • Experience in strategy development and deployment
  • Experience in working in a complex environment
  • Demonstrable record of driving technical change programs with external suppliers or clients
