Eaton’s eMobility Division is currently seeking a Lab Technician to join our team. This position is based at our Tualatin, Oregon facility. * We will consider a qualified candidate seeking a new career change coming from a Service Technician related role such as : HVAC Technician ; Electroinic Technician ; Residential Electrician or.... recent Trade school graduate with applicable work experience. Position Overview: The Lab Technician is responsible for performing electrical and mechanical testing on engineering prototypes and production samples under the guidance of the project engineer or lab manager. Provide lab support including assembly for new automotive EV eMobility products. In this role, you will follow written test plans, perform tests, record data, and complete written test reports. Performs functions as necessary to support all product development and maintenance activities. In this role, you will: Review each assigned project with the project engineer, lab manager or master technician to reach an understanding of the test program to be followed, take responsibility for its execution, record and report the results. Follow pre-written instructional procedures to execute assembly, testing and/or verifying product. Interpret test results with the help of the team during testing and clearly communicate progress and conclusions to the project or test engineer either verbally or in writing. Learn to be able to detect unexpected results during testing and perform root cause analysis with team involvement. Assist in the assembly and organization of test setups and test fixtures. Assist with the construction of test fixtures as required to perform necessary functional and environmental tests. Demonstrate a working knowledge of standard test procedures. Understand the capabilities, use, and care of available equipment. Maintain an understanding of new technologies as appropriate for future testing. Assist in the development and implementation of safety regulations. Practice continued self-improvement in verbal and written communication skills. Utilize computer programs and software to be more productive. Additional lab processes, team projects, working under deadlines, and research into new concepts will be part of this role. Establish a close working relationship with project engineers and peers. A good team member understands and uses information from others to achieve a common goal. Coordinate and bring successful closure to distinct assignments. Uses invention, imagination, creativity, and resourcefulness during assigned work. Share knowledge with other technicians as necessary to improve technician pool’s core knowledge and capabilities. Actively participate in safety processes and requirements including following safety procedures, maintaining a safe, clean, and organized lab area, ensuring equipment compliance to our safety standards. Follow all safety PPE requirements safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, electrical worker safety, etc. that will be required for this role. May be required to do repetitive lifting and carrying, pushing, and pulling, standing, climbing, squatting, bending, and kneeling. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: High school Diploma or GED from an accredited institution Minimum one (1) year experience in experience in an electrical, testing, and/or engineering environment. Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of Tualatin, OR will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. * We will consider an entry-level qualified candidate seeking a career change coming from a Service Technician related role such as : HVAC Technician ; Electroinic Technician ; or Residential Electrician. Preferred Qualifications: Associates degree from an accredited institution Electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical, soldering and computer aptitude or related technical experience. Use of electronic test equipment such as power supplies, electronic loads, DMM, Oscilloscopes, etc. Previous experience in high voltage electrical testing and qualified electrical worker safety knowledge is desirable. Previous hardware experience with high voltage/high current power supply wire harness/cable building experience, electronic load, DMM, DAQ is desired. Position Success Criteria: Must have good communication, organizational skills. Must be self-motivated and able to complete tasks with general supervision. Skill in use of computers and software for test automation, documentation, and analysis Aptitude in the use of hand tools for mechanical assembly and electrical soldering and wiring of test apparatus and devices to be tested.
