Job Description
Job Title: Lab Technologist Organization: Vehicle Group Global Products Location: Turin HQ, Italy Job Summary: Support root cause analysis for problem solving efforts, setting up and executing tests, organizing and presenting failure analysis results on Valve Train and other internal combustion engine components. Evaluates VT current and future products and materials. Support, develop and improve laboratory work-flow and procedures interacting with engineering, quality and manufacturing functions. Job Responsibilities: 1. Plan and execute all failure analysis activities and metallurgical checks on engine components in a teamwork environment. 2. Evaluates material properties of existing products and new or improved products following internal and Customer technical specifications working closely to Application Engineers. 3. Perform the assigned activities and support laboratory work-flow related to the testing of current and advanced VT products such as metrological, metallurgical, chemical and material evaluation checks in line with the assigned priorities and up to the editing of technical reports. 4. Evaluates existing products and new or improved products. 5. Select test methods and use of special equipment as required by working in team with engineering, design and manufacturing functions. 6. Define, set-up, and verify measurement systems for design verification, root cause analysis, or performance testing. 7. Performs set up of non-routine and standard tests. 8. Gather data through use of lab equipment and organize into a database or other usable format. 9. Document results of testing or problem solving efforts in a clear and concise technical report. 10. Participates in team problem solving. 11. Identify improvements to designs, assembly procedures, troubleshooting procedures or test methods and maintain updated the laboratory procedures. Qualifications Education Level required: Master Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Material is preferred) Years and area of experience required: 2 to 5 years (preferred) Technical knowledge: Knowledge of Failure Analysis and typical mechanical testing, metallographic and material characterization techniques.
