Job Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise the day-to-day running of the laboratory
• Provide training to technical staff as required
• Identify and report any potential or real problems within the department
• Understand the requirements of International and Hong Kong Standards relevant to the department
• Verify test results and sign reports
• Compile and/or check test reports before issuance
• Liaise with clients with regards to technical and logistical enquiries
• Identify potential new areas of business growth for the laboratory
• Ensure adherence to the Company Quality System and HOKLAS/HKIAS requirements
• Be aware of costs and be proactive in managing costs to the best interests of the company
• Assist in making the company a safe working environment
• Undertake instruction by General Manager
  
  

Requirement:

• HKIE Member (Civil or Geotechnical Discipline): minimum 5-year post-qualification experience in civil or geotechnical engineering in which at least 1 year in supervising the relevant types of soil and rock test; or
• Holder of Certificate or Diploma in Civil Engineering: minimum 7-year of post-qualification experience in construction materials testing, and at least 2-year in relevant types of soil and rock tests in which 1 year shall be in supervisory role; or
• Level 2 or above in five subjects including Physics and Mathematics in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE), or equivalent: minimum 10-year post-qualification experience in construction materials testing, and at least 2-year in relevant types of soil and rock tests in which 1 year shall be in supervisory role.

Working Days

• Monday to Friday 0830 - 1730 and Saturday 0830 – 1230 (possibility of working alternate Saturday mornings after probation)
