40 hrs, days, every 3rd weekend & holiday rotations

MaineGeneral Health is offering an opportunity for a Laboratory Tech to work in our new state of the art laboratory. Join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals in this fast paced environment where 300,000 venipunctures are performed and 500,000 specimens are processed annually. Responsibilities:
  • Performs assigned analytical tests: chemical, hematologic, immunologic, microscopic, microbiologic and blood banking.
  • Operates and equipment, reports/documents malfunction, performs and documents preventative maintenance.
  • Performs and analyzes daily quality control data, makes judgments concerning results, notifies Supervisor and/or takes appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision.
  • Enters, retrieves and prints data in computer. Communicates information such as test results, reference ranges and specimen requirements to authorized sources.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • A degree in related field or graduate of an accredited Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory
    Scientist program preferred.
  • Certification by American Society of Clinical Pathologists -; Medical Laboratory Technician: MLT (ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Scientist: MLS (ASCP) or MT (ASCP) required. OR Certification by American Medical Technologists -; Medical Laboratory Technician: MLT (AMT) or Medical Technologist: MT (AMT) required.
