Location: Spain/remote – ideally within easy reach of Granada office

About The Role:

The Language Office Director leads an organization responsible for delivering the full range of language services that achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction for projects into Spanish and all other official languages within Spain. Accountable for driving organizational results across all projects and clients. Provides strategic and tactical direction to her/his teams to ensure high quality results and customer satisfaction. Accountable for the overall performance of his/her organization by effectively managing outcomes and measures of performance (e.g., quality, budget, resourcing, client satisfaction).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership expertise to enable a large team working onsite in Granada and remotely to deliver a broad range of language services
  • Supports the team to achieve excellent customer satisfaction for the language(s) for which she/he has responsibilities
  • Develops and implements strategies and tactics to improve language processes, methodologies and tools that result in high levels of productivity, quality and client satisfaction
  • Monitors progress across multiple projects and ensures issues are resolved in a timely and constructive manner
  • Conducts project reviews across his/her organization in order to make improvements
  • Engages with internal stakeholders as senior operational leader
  • Continually develops, grows and retains the talent base through effective performance and development strategies, proactive and targeted recruitment and retention tactics
  • Monitors performance through KPIs and adjusts strategy, plans, and tactics to ensure team is delivering the best possible outcomes for the client
  • Owns a significant number of measurable functional, operational and strategic goals or priorities
  • Accountable for the overall financial performance of the department
  • Is able to analyze department work levels and receives appropriate approval for changes in staffing levels/positions to meet business unit work needs. Participates in the selection process for new employees
  • Supports the Project Management teams in developing programs for operational readiness, focusing on lowering costs related to client solutions and services
  • Understands and adheres to company Quality Management System (QMS) requirements including but not limited to ISO standards
  • Collaborates with site and senior business unit leadership to drive teams in improving all areas including processes, people and technology. This could include evaluation of the P&L statements, outsourcing performance and behavior, and innovation of process and technology to increase productivity and/or profitability

 

Requirements:

  • Ability to provide leadership for employees and provide clear direction, while meeting goals and objectives in a respectful manner
  • Ability to communicate with, train and lead employees through changes in procedures, client requirements, and other operational issues
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills including relationship building and presentation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders and resolve issues or complaints in a professional and efficient manner
  • Strong organizational skills in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate competing work demands, and maintain composure under pressure
  • Fluent English verbal and written communication skills along with strong presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively complete root cause analysis
  • Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, CAT tools, Office 365/Skype, CRM/Aurora/other production software)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of company financial information as well as other sensitive information
  • A team player who can collaborate effectively with a diverse group of individuals
  • Familiarity with and understanding of inter-departmental functions in order to most effectively manage projects and supervise staff

 

Qualification profile:

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.  Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  • Successful translation, operations or project management experience, generally a minimum of eight years within the translation industry.
  • Significant demonstrable experience coordinating complex projects within the translation/localization industry
  • Demonstrated successful leadership or mentoring experience, minimum of five years
  • A progressive record of increasing responsibility in management leading up to a senior management position including demonstrated successful performance in operations management
  • Strong track record of successfully managing relationships with clients, internal stakeholders, and management team
  • Experience operating in a fast growing international company with revenues at or above $70m.
