Eaton’s Aerospace Division is currently seeking a Lead Additive Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Charleston, SC facility. Position Overview: Additive manufacturing (AM) is an exciting new technology that offers substantial benefits to the Aerospace industry and the opportunity for Eaton to leverage the technology to capture profitable growth. One critical aspect to the rapid deployment of the technology is establishment of AM manufacturing locations both internally and externally within our supply chain. Recently the Aerospace Senior Leadership Team finished the construction of Phase1 and 2 and approved the construction of Phase 3 of an Aerospace Additive Mfg. development and production center that will be constructed within the existing Charleston S.C. plant. This facility will establish a high productivity development lab that will deploy the latest AM process technologies and rapidly develop product applications in preparation for full scale production. This new position will act as the AM expert, for the Digital Design and Additive manufacturing center in Charleston, S.C. responsible for consulting with Aerospace engineers and AM specialist to design the parts and the AM process to manufacture. The candidate will create design guidelines, design AM parts and supports, adjust process parameters, operate the printers and all supporting equipment, write procedures and work instructions, implement continuous improvements projects to optimize the process for cost and quality. In addition, the role will work with the engineering community to develop proposals on proposed projects including defining the cost of the end part, required non-recurring AM engineering costs for development and timing. Also, this person will support the development of the AM process and the transition to production. He/She will oversee some of the day-to-day operation, maintain a quality system in the lab, ensure safe work practices are maintained and drive overall maturation within the facility. The successful candidate will also be responsible to support the digital design strategy and implementation in the new AM facility. In this function you will: Design AM Parts and Supports - 3D modeling Write Work instructions and Procedures for AM processes Create and maintain the AM process Value Stream Run the ERP JobBoss and Mfgr Pro systems Create Development and production routers Drive process improvements and implement them to reduce process cost and improve machine utilization Estimate AM development and production cost including associated NRE Attend and support customers design reviews and meetings Manage big part of the AM quality system Develop in process monitoring and analyze data from the OT system Thoroughly understand the AM machine and all support equipment Develop and refine the equipment maintenance and calibration procedures Create safety procedures and maintain it – update / revise when necessary Collaborate with the ERL and other business on government projects Define and execute process optimization projects on Surface remediation, inspection, support removal Setup and maintain powder and other process consumables inventory. When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing engineering or related field experience Minimum of 1 year of intensive experience with metal additive manufacturing printers Must be authorized to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now or in the future. This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
