Eaton’s Aerospace Group, Interconnect Technology Division (ITD) is currently seeking a Lead Assembly Technician to join our Production team. This position is based at our Camarillo, CA facility. Starting rate for this position is $26/hr Position Overview: This role is responsible for overseeing and performing the assembly of connectors, actuators, and related electromechanical systems to successfully meet customer delivery dates. In this function you will: Lead and perform the day-to-day activities of Assembly processes and the department. Provides guidance to all elements of assembly to assure that labor hours are assigned and used in the most efficient manner and support of established Assembly and Test schedules. Ensure adequate equipment is available, and in good working condition to conduct business efficiently and to meet quality expectations. Schedule work for the department, and assign daily work for assembly technicians following customer demands per MRP. Guide all elements of assembly to assure standard labor hours are accurate and can be met in the most efficient manner. Coordinate training for less experienced technicians on how to build new and legacy product. Assembly of complex parts that requires attention to detail (i.e. electronic components) following verbal instructions, blueprints, sketches, specifications, schematics and assembly drawings. Ensure assembly schedules are met. Works closely with Engineering on new product development, identify tools and fixtures needed to support production. May also assist Manufacturing Engineering on operation sketches on first time builds. Identify tools and Fixtures needed to support production. Perform work using basic inspection tools (i.e. calipers, micrometers, height gages, depth micrometers, drop indicators, etc.) Perform pre-test process during assembly using test equipment, such as; Ohmmeter, multi-meter, insulation resistance tester, etc. Perform assembly processes, such as; Soldering, Lock wire and torque. Monitor & verify that all assembly equipment is in good condition and can produce a quality product. Perform troubleshoot on rejected / test failures to determine reasons for malfunctioning components or improperly assembled units. Perform diversified mechanical bench or floor assembly operations to assemble intricate or larger and critical products to close tolerances making modifications for precision fitting and aligning Confer with or refer major and critical problems or decisions to immediate Supervisor. Complete and maintain proper reports and checklists Implement corrective actions relating to safety and quality issues Monitor the coordination of the flow of hardware / product through the department and divert manpower where needed. Suggest and implements ideas and plans to reduce manufacturing costs. Support manufacturing Engineers in the development of Op Sketches for the assembly department Backup for department supervisor Responsible for requesting assembly equipment and supplies in order to support the department. Comply with all safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment in a safe and competent manner. Understand and meet all departmental safety objectives and goals. Keep assigned work-area clean, organized, and orderly per 5S standards. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a leading role (Front Line Leader) Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the assembly of electromechanical systems Minimum of two (2) years’ experience of continuous improvement (six sigma tools and / or 5S process). No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only Candidates residing within 50 miles of Irvine, CA will be considered for this position. Ability to read, write and speak fluent English Ability to develop people Moderate physical exertion. Moderate degree of mental acuity and/or moderate visual attention required. Detail-oriented Ability to work independently Knowledge & use of shop mathematics as well as direct reading of detailed work instructions.
