Our legal team is looking to bring on a Lead Counsel, Employment. This person is a highly adaptable and collaborative employment attorney that can handle ambiguity and rapidly shifting priorities with flexibility, patience, and poise. This person will have excellent judgment in assessing legal risks and business strategy, and a proven ability to lead in a complex and thriving environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal and strategic advice and counsel to internal clients and legal colleagues on a range of global employment issues, including prevention of harassment and discrimination, anti-bribery and corruption, and ethics issues
- Independently support key Talent and Business partners on complex and challenging employment issues.
- Support the creation & management of our employment & compliance policies.
- Manage high-visibility, high-stakes employment & compliance issues, disputes, and investigations.
- Become a trusted and collaboration-oriented partner across Employee Experience global functions.
- Support Airbnb’s commitment to building and maintaining a diverse workplace, free of discrimination and harassment.
- Drive cross-functional projects to improve our global employment compliance.
Experience/Qualifications:
- 12+ years of relevant experience with a significant amount focused on employment law.
- Qualified lawyer with Bar admission in the United States.
- In-house counsel experience is required, technology sector is preferable.
- Creative, flexible and accomplished attorney.
- 12+ years of relevant experience with a significant amount within employment law.
- Strong, proven ability to work cross functionally with business partners.
- Extensive experience leading and/or advising on investigations.
- General knowledge working within an international and multicultural environment with geographically dispersed team members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and pressurized environment and the ability to act decisively.
- Provide quick, concise, and practical legal advice consistent with Airbnb’s business objectives.
- Advise and problem-solve proactively where necessary.
- A passion for Airbnb’s mission, with a strong knowledge and interest in travel.
- A team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The starting base pay for this role is between $225,000 and $280,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as education, experience and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits and Employee Travel Credits.
