Eaton’s Electrical Sector Component Engineering Center of Excellence is seeking a Senior Electronics Systems Engineer in our Montreal, Québec, Canada. Eaton is seeking a Senior Electronics System Engineer for Component Engineering (CE) Center of Excellence (CoE). Eaton’s CE CoE accelerates the company’s growth by supporting the development teams in the EMEA, North American and APAC regions and building blocks that are scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable as well as standardized design methodologies that can be adopted by multiple businesses, which provides a foundation for our business to develop innovative products more rapidly. This individual will be responsible for supporting various (NPI) developments, implementation, and validation for a wide spectrum of power products. This individual will be also responsible for executing plans for the use and adoption of standard hardware design during the NPI process. This includes the use common Microcontrollers and other electronics parts on new products within the Eaton’s product portfolio. This individual will be a key member of the CE CoE and will directly report to the global CE CoE manager and functionally to the Technical Manager. Essential Functions: • Participated in full lifecycle product development of product utilizing electronic components. • Exposure in selection and evaluation of an alternate component in case of design change, component obsolescence, cost reduction and VAVE • Experience in providing complete support on regulations such as EU RoHS, China RoHS, WEEE, REACH and Conflict Minerals. • Strong knowledge on component database management, BOM scrubbing/update, product file structure, PLM ECR, ECO • Knowledge of electrical & electronic components – e.g. Surface Mount & through Hole, etc • Knowledge of standard (IPC-7351) documentation for creation and usage of footprints and symbols and Altium Designer • Involved in creation of design documents, cost and concept evaluation, test plan preparation • Know-how of EMI/EMC standards and reliability testing • Involved in design reviews and project co-ordination. • Hands-on experience of Schematic and PCB design. • Participated in Vendor selection efforts for product components. • Participated in Part selection efforts for product components. • Hands on knowledge with Taxonomy of various part types. • Strong experience with attributes of various electronic components • Strong knowledge on materials and manufacturing process of electronic components, PCB and PCBA • Co-ordinate with stakeholders to understand the new changes & requirement Qualifications Basic qualifications: MS in electrical engineering or computer engineering or equivalent. Minimum 4 years of related engineering experience in the Electronics and PCBA development. Experience can be found in academic lab, commercial, or any combination thereof OR PhD in electrical engineering or computer engineering or equivalent with no commercial experience All candidates must also possess the following basic qualifications Experience with embedded hardware Experience with DSP, FPGA, or microcontrollers, and standard peripheral components Ability to learn new skills, technical knowledge, products, or industry Strong written communication and verbal communication skills Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time regionally which includes the CE COE in Montreal, Canada, and the Cherrington, PA, Boca Raton, FL USA Preferred: PhD in electrical engineering or computer engineering or equivalent. Knowledge of embedded software Working knowledge of HIL HW and SW Experience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team members Demonstrated knowledge of engineering processes Self-motivated and goal oriented individual. Good communication and presentation skills Collaborative orientation, the ability to succeed in a highly team oriented, global, and diverse environment.
