Eaton’s Industrial Controls Division (ICD) is currently seeking Lead Firmware Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Menomonee Falls, WI facility. Position Overview: This position will reside in the divisional headquarters building, which houses engineering for multiple product lines as well as marketing, sales, finance, and research. The facility was built in 2012 and boasts an open office layout surrounded by large windows, as well as 50,000+ square feet of onsite state-of-the-art laboratory space, a basketball court, ping-pong, employee lounge, fitness center and grill & patio. The qualified candidate will lead technical requirement management, firmware development and test verification and validation of embedded firmware and software for ICD’s next generation of industry leading products and IoT applications. Primary products are related to advanced motor protection, communications, reduced voltage starting and variable frequency drives for industrial applications; leveraging embedded micro-controllers and digital signal processors in a real time operating system environment. The candidate will work within a firmware center of excellence together with other team members driving new product and process development while leveraging modern toolchains. The candidate must possess a mind-set focused on quality, efficiency and innovation combined with application knowledge, test experience and leadership capabilities in alignment with Eaton values and competencies. In this function you will: Lead technical requirement definition (derived form product marketing specifications), review, traceability and clarification for swift development execution accross engineering team. Develop Eaton (PROLaunch) NPI detailed functional design requirements identification. Review functional requirements implementation and approve/disapprove based on detailed design requirements. Approve “work packages” related to project requirements based on aforementioned requirements. Support new product design teams through test development, test execution, data analysis, and competitor benchmarking. Support identification of project timing, resources and schedule based on requirements definition. Support the development and maintenance of automated test frameworks, test systems. Support defect lifecycle management and product design root cause analysis. Support process improvement initiatives globally and functional excellence. Support strategy for improving product test management, processes and execution for new product development and existing product portfolio. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited institution Minimum of 5 years of experience and practical experience in all software development lifecycle phases Minimum of 3 years of experience working with C/C++ or Python Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the work location will be considered. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge/training related to the fundamentals of micro-processors/controllers Experience and knowledge of embedded real time multi-tasking operating systems Experience defining product features and technical requirements and requirement management process Position Criteria: Knowledge of advanced engineering practices, processes and related tools. This includes (but is not limited to) anomaly tracking, version control, test driven development, simulation, experience with DevOps, automated testing and continuous integration. Knowledge and experience related to industrial applications such as motor protection, motor control, industrial communications protocols, and power systems is preferred.
