Eaton’s Power Electronics, Embedded Electronics, and Battery Center of Excellence (CoE) is currently hiring a Lead Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer to join our team. This position will be based at our Raleigh, NC facility and the position does offer relocation assistance. The position is eligible for a hybrid work setup. Position Overview: Eaton’s Power Electronics, Embedded Electronics, and Battery Center of Excellence (CoE) accelerates the company’s growth through the development of battery platforms that are battery-agnostic, scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable, as well as standardized design methodologies and tools that can be adopted by multiple business units, which provides a foundation for our business to more rapidly develop innovative products with energy storage. This individual will be responsible for firmware development, implementation, and validation for power conversion and battery management system products and platforms. This individual will also be responsible for driving the use and adoption of model-based techniques during the NPI process. This includes using Model in the Loop (MIL) and Hardware in the Loop (HIL) methodologies during the design and validation. In this function you will: Architects and designs robust embedded firmware for power conversion and battery management system products and platforms Implements, tests, and troubleshoots firmware Plans and performs firmware development and validation on Hardware-In-Loop (HIL) and lab Creates technical reports and presentations Initiates and leads design reviews and technical discussions, including brainstorming When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution Minimum 7 years of engineering experience in the development of firmware for embedded systems, power converters, or battery management system products Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer science from an accredited institution. Working knowledge of Hardware-In-Loop (HIL) HW and SW Experience in developing and implementing control algorithms with auto-code generation tools ( e.g., Simulink Coder) Experience using Matlab/Simulink for FW development and implementation Experience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team members Demonstrated knowledge of engineering processes Experience with DSP, FPGA, microcontrollers, and standard peripheral components Position Criteria: Strong skills in embedded software architecture and C/C++ programming Knowledge of real-time operating systems, digital signal processing, and digital control Familiarity with development tools such as compilers and debuggers Ability to learn new skills, technical knowledge, products, or industry Strong written communication and verbal communication skills Self-motivated and goal-oriented individual. Good communication and presentation skills Collaborative orientation, the ability to succeed in a highly team-oriented, global, and diverse environment.
