Eaton’s Battery CoE accelerate the company’s growth through the development of battery platforms that are battery-agnostic, scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable, as well as standardized design methodologies and tools that can be adopted by multiple business units, which provides a foundation for our business to more rapidly develop innovative products with energy storage. Eaton’s Battery Center of Excellence (CoE) is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Raleigh, NC location and is open to a Hybrid work schedule. Position Overview: The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the integration of mechanical and electrical components for the battery platforms by creating structured 3D-CAD assemblies and using the state-of-the art FEA tools to ensure designs meet or exceed requirements. In this function you will: Lead mechanical design and development activities and demonstrates start-finish ownership for the assigned projects and tasks. Perform mechanical design (e.g., 3D CAD modeling, FEA structural analysis) of components and assemblies. Develop the technical requirements for and identify components for the designs. Create technical reports and presentations. Perform engineering analysis to define critical design parameters and predict design latitude Perform lab activities like prototyping and measurement Collaborate with a cross functional team members such as electrical engineer and lab technician to successfully develop and validate the designs Evaluate the designs to meet requirements factoring in performance, size, cost, manufacturability, and reliability. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, from an accredited institution. Minimum of 7 years of related engineering experience in integrating mechanical and electrical components by creating structured 3D CAD assemblies and using FEA tools to ensure designs meet requirements. Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. Experience in designing battery packs, racks, or systems. Experience in manufacturing processes. Experience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team members. Possess Six Sigma certification. Bilingual in English/Korean or English/Chinese. Position Criteria: Strong working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles. Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Serviceability. Self-motivated and goal-oriented individual. Good communication and presentation skills Collaborative orientation, the ability to succeed in a highly team-oriented, global, and diverse environment.
