Eaton’s North American Electrical Sales Division is currently seeking a Lead OEM Sales Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Pleasanton, CA location. This role is also open to a hybrid work schedule or remote in the Greater San Francisco, CA area. Relocation assistance is offered for this role. Position Overview: The Lead OEM Sales Engineer will market and sell Eaton’s products to obtain orders that are profitable to Eaton. This position is expected to promote and achieve sales results by selling circuit protection as well as control and distribution products typically found in the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) space by understanding customers’ needs and applying Eaton’s products to create a winning solution. There will be an assigned geographic market and key customers that a seasoned sales or technical person will be expected to manage as well as a significant focus on new customer development. The assignment is both Machinery OEM and E-OEM business, but a strong focus on E-EOM and alternative energy OEM’s. This position is expected to develop, grow and maintain relationships with OEM customers and Eaton employees, as well as Eaton authorized distributors. The primary function also includes understanding OEM customer segments and influencers, ability to gain confidence of customers and become a trusted source of information about Eaton’s offer. They will need to master Eaton’s support structure available to sales, including EatonCare; understanding Eaton proprietary systems and software including Bidmanager and VISTA. In this function you will: Develop and execute sales strategies to meet performance expectations and requirements Quote projects and negotiate pricing Prepare sales presentations to create product understanding and awareness Build relationships with key customers to enhance long-term business prospects Work with factories to resolve technical issues while working with customers to resolve quality issues Engage the market to gain insight and adjust to ever changing pricing and delivery requirements Assist team to develop a coordinated sales effort while keeping management informed of market conditions Obtain ongoing training on both functional and technical skills Why work at Eaton? Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution Minimum five (5) years of electrical industry customer facing consultative experience Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Experience selling to OEM customers in the semi or solar industry Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary range for this role is $84,185 - $115,754 a year. Eligible for an annual performance-based incentive plan with a target at 30% of base salary. Position Criteria: Possess excellent communication skills Ability to respond to a variety of circumstances while continuing to demonstrate superior selling skills for important customer services and applications Electrical product knowledge Ability to provide technical solutions built around customer needs Skilled in time management Possess negotiating skills while understanding and using techniques needed to close orders Experience with preparing sales proposals that meet customer expectations Robust presentation, training and communications skills Experience utilizing value-added selling techniques Strong work ethic, competitiveness, willingness to learn and adept at building relationships Experience using a CRM tool The customers will be San Francisco Bay based, but there will be some coverage needs elsewhere in Northern California Ability to travel up to 10% We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
