Eaton’s Power Electronics Center of Excellence division is currently seeking a Lead Power Electronics Engineer to join our team. This position will be based at our Raleigh, NC facility and does offer relocation assistance. The position is eligible for a hybrid work setup. Position Overview: Eaton’s PE CoE accelerates the company’s growth through the development of power electronics technology platforms and common hardware building blocks that are scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable, as well as standardized design methodologies that can be adopted by multiple business units, which provide a foundation for our business to more rapidly develop innovative products. This individual will be a member of the PE CoE and play a key role in driving the development of technology platforms, common building blocks, and design methodologies to be leveraged by multiple business units. In this function you will: Performs design, modeling, simulation, and implementation of power electronics circuits for power conversion and protection. Develops control and protection algorithms for electric motors and power converters. Builds and measures test circuits. Analyzes data to improve/optimize the designs. Evaluates the designs to meet requirements factoring in performance, cost, size, reliability, and manufacturability. Collaborates with mechanical, thermal, firmware, and testing engineers to successfully develop and validate the designs Initiates and leads design reviews and technical discussions, including brainstorming. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelors degree from an accredited institution Minimum 6 years of engineering experience in power electronics designs and/or product development. Preferred Qualifications: M.S. or Ph.D. in electrical engineering from an accredited institution Experience with modeling, simulation, and analysis experience with tools such as Matlab/Simulink, SPICE, and PLECS Experience with power electronics development and testing, especially for medium voltage (MV) applications Experience with Broad knowledge of power electronics, including various topologies, power semiconductors, and control schemes. Experience in digital controls and electric motor/power converter control techniques such as d-q transformation and P & Q control Experience knowledge of Hardware-In-Loop (HIL) HW and SW Experience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team members.
