Eaton is currently seeking a Lead Power Systems Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Austin, TX facility. Position Overview: This position requires the ability to lead the design and development of Wire Management products and Power Distribution and Control (PD&C) systems for harsh and hazardous environments and therefore the incumbent must have skills in mechanical design. It is also highly desired to possess skills in controls and electrical design. The incumbent must be capable of making engineering judgments regarding product problems and deviations from established standards and be able to recommend solutions suitable to maintain the integrity of the product. The position necessitates that the incumbent has knowledge and capabilities of engineering management, including budgeting and expense tracking, project management, product reliability testing, personnel development, innovation, and inclusion & diversity. This position is accountable for managing the full life cycle of products within the harsh & hazardous/industrial wire management and PD&C product families. In this function, you will: Lead and develop assigned engineering team including extended global team members. Have responsibility for mentoring and recruiting highly skilled engineering talent Manage all engineering activities within the department including design, development, certification and testing, and serial production release. Be responsible for engineering functional objectives and initiatives in support of our strategic plan. Confront and solve performance/operational issues to improve engineering efficiency. Have responsibility for expense management and capital planning. When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution 10 years of engineering experience 5 years of experience with new product introductions, using standard product development process techniques and a structured engineering phase gate development process. 5 years of experience in test plan assessments including certification to standards and regulatory testing. 5 years of management experience. Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Preferred qualifications: Advanced degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution Experience with designing products for Potentially Explosive Atmospheres Experience in design for harsh and hazardous environments. Experience in control systems, sensors, wireless connectivity, SW/FW/HW design and development Position Criteria: Proven analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a matrix environment, get results and drive change through others. Effective oral and written communication skills as well as planning and organizational skills.
