Eaton’s Power Components Division is currently seeking a Lead Present Product Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Horseheads, NY. Relocation assistance will be provided. Position Overview: In this role, you will apply technical knowledge to lead product modification projects and work within your technical scope to ensure all modifications meet customers’ requirements for form, fit, and function. You will research and implement alternative designs for present products with primary focus on cost reduction and improved manufacturability. You will work cross-functionally with all internal stakeholders to ensure that any modifications meet all departmental requirements. You will have responsibility for cost improvement programs in VA/VE engineering to support plant targets. Making what matters work at Eaton takes the passion of every employee around the world. In this function you will: Lead in developing modifications to vacuum interrupter designs in order to improve product performance and/or reduce costs. Work with engineering, quality, marketing, supply chain, finance, safety and manufacturing to ensure modifications continue to meet each department’s objectives. Lead, plan and coordinate cost improvement programs in the areas of VA/VE engineering, material savings and productivity to support profit plan targets. Interface with commodity managers and ECO supply chain team-members to improve the overall cost structure of our products. Coordinate materials savings with appropriate supply chain employees and engineers to keep project plans updated and on track. Evaluate materials and processes required to maximize quality, performance and cost objectives, presenting sound technical proposals including design theory, cost, feasibility, etc. Redesign manufacturing specifications for modified vacuum interrupter designs. Plan and coordinate projects to meet specific time and production requirements. Provide technical leadership and consultation to transfer developmental designs and new manufacturing processes to production. Research solutions for complex problems of significant magnitude and scope which require knowledge of more than one technological area. Maintain a good working knowledge of and operate high-level computer software such as CAD, Microsoft Office, etc. Support Continuous Improvement, Eaton’s EHS management system, Eaton Lean Six Sigma, Eaton Quality System, PROLaunch and other Eaton initiatives. Collaborate with other divisions participating in R&D programs of mutual interest and benefit. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution Five years' experience in manufacturing or related engineering field Preferred qualifications: Experience with Pro-E or CAD preferred. Exceptional ability to read and understand technical drawings. General knowledge of manufacturing specifications and/or principles. Good problem-solving skills. Attentive to detail. Able to work/think independently. Strong communication skills. Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
