To find out more about us check: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baa_aiJ4L7E Eaton Corporation’s Center for Intelligent Power has an opening for a Lead Systems Engineer with experience in embedded Linux-based systems engineering and development to help drive the development of Eaton’s Intelligent Power platform. This platform will provide a set of reusable embedded and analytics components which will be used throughout the Eaton business to produce products for Eaton’s customers. The successful candidate will work with our team of embedded system engineers on the end to end design, development, test and delivery of our product solutions. The Systems Engineer will be involved in the design, development, and testing of edge and cloud-based systems. In addition to building and maintaining these systems, the Systems Engineer will also work to ensure that the functionality is usable, reusable, and extensible for data engineers and business users across the enterprise. Your main responsibilities: Lead the architecture, design, and development of new intelligent power technology products and production quality end to end systems Devise and oversee the implementation of methods for secure data input/output, networking, digital signal processing, and transducer integration Recommend, set up, integrate, and utilize development environments and frameworks as required for business and data engineering needs Contribute to the development and maintenance of a reliable CI/CD pipeline to ensure the quality of our deliveries. Convey complex technical processes to non-technical and business/marketing audiences Identify and communicate solutions for blockers or other technical challenges experienced during project lifetimes Document and demonstrate solutions by using flowcharts, diagrams, code comments, code snippets, and performance instruments Evaluate business requirements to determine potential solutions. Author high-quality, highly-performance, unit-tested code based on business and data engineering needs and lead code reviews Work directly with stakeholders, engineering, and test to create high quality solutions that solve end-user problems Mentor others in the use of our tools and techniques Qualifications Your essential skills we are looking for: Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s or higher degree(s) in computer science, computer engineering, or software engineering 5+ years’ of progressive experience in developing and designing Linux ARM/x86-based firmware and software. 5+ years’ of progressive experience in developing and designing real-time embedded firmware. 3+ years’ of experience in the software industry as a developer with a proven track record of delivering high quality products. 2+ years of experience designing and developing IoT and cloud-based software architectures, platforms, and frameworks Experience in optimising code, identifying bottlenecks and maximising performance on constrained hardware. Experience in delivery, deployment and maintenance of production Linux IoT systems, ideally within a Yocto or equivalent distribution model. Ability to translate complex technical requirements into a set of modular functional blocks designed for efficient use of memory, processing, and energy resources. Broad Linux development expertise covering Makefiles, CMake, cross-compilation, debugging, code coverage, unit testing, automation, and shell scripting Solid understanding of C/C++/Python and associated IDEs (Eclipse, IAR Embedded Workbench, PyCharm, etc.) Experience working with and leading software teams through Agile development methodologies and concepts. Strong problem solving and software debugging skills Experience building and extending libraries to support software functionality needs of other roles Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively explain technical concepts and solutions Abreast of upcoming software development/engineering tools, trends, and methodologies Strong communications and mentoring capabilities Desired Expertise (in one or more of the following areas): Wired/wireless communications, networking, and transport protocols, service layers, message queues, and related technologies (WLAN, Bluetooth, mesh, cellular technologies, Ethernet/IPv4/IPv6, UDP, TCP, RDP, SNMP, Modbus, MQTT, ZeroMQ, AMQP, OPC UA) Experience integrating AI and ML models into low-cost, low power embedded devices. Cybersecurity best practices, information and physical security, authentication, authorisation, and attestation Digital signal processing and transducer technologies e.g. sensor and actuator integration, discovery, & control, analysis, and low-latency decision control loop approaches IoT/controller ARM/x86-based microcontroller development expertise Fog/Edge computing experience e.g. edge devices, gateways, basestations, and small cells targeting industrial IoT, Industry 4.0, smart cities, smart grids, and 5G #LI-AR2 What you will get from us Eaton’s mission is to improve the quality of life and the environment through the use of power management technologies and services.
