Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Lead Systems Engineer – EV Fast Charging to join our team. This position is based at our Raleigh, NC facility. Relocation assistance is available for this role! Position Overview: The Lead Systems Engineer – EV Fast Charging will lead the evaluation, development, and launch of solutions for Eaton’s DC Fast Charging product offering for the Americas market. This position is responsible for technical specification, architecture, and development of system solutions that expand our market leading technology into emerging DC Fast Charging applications. It is envisioned that this position will grow in scope and responsibility as the portfolio grows across our Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure product line. In this function, you will: Champion innovative solutions to power electronics topology, magnetics, thermal, and digital controls functions. Perform system and architectural product design, as well as make vs buy analysis to fill out the Eaton product offering. Lead electrical and system engineering activities for DC Fast Charging products. Design and develop power converters and charging systems for DC Fast Charging infrastructure. Analyze and simulate power electronics systems including, analog, logical, and digital electronics. Leverage use of es Hardware in the Loop systems. Technical leader for new product development projects responsible for meeting schedule, cost and product performance goals. Interface closely with cross-functional and cross-regional team members. Review product development requirement specifications including product management and customer requirements. Write and maintain functional specifications of design solutions. Evaluate alternative design solutions to meet product development requirements factoring in performance, cost and schedule. Apply Design for Six Sigma principles as part of the development process. Interface with factory, service and product engineering departments. Support factory introduction and field deployment of new products. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 6 years of industry work experience in electrical product development -OR- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 4 years of industry work experience in electrical product development Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Experience developing and launching Electric Vehicle Charging products Systems engineering experience with complex electrical systems Experience interacting with Global teams Understanding of compliance standards for Electric Vehicle Charging – (i.e., UL2202) Strong knowledge of Design for Six Sigma concepts Solid background in the field of power electronics and controls Experience developing new products utilizing a stage-gate process Proficiency in using simulation tools such as Matlab/Simulink, PSpice, and Hardware-in-loop development environments Experience with power electronic utility interface Proven track record for leading project teams Knowledge of high-power product design considerations preferred (200 kW to 1 MW) Position Criteria: Experience developing complex electrical systems with digital controls Ability to evaluate and design higher level system architectural considerations involving electrical, software, and mechanical cross-disciplinary principles. Excellent communications skills. Understanding of Electric Vehicle charging protocols, standards, and technologies Ability to demonstrate creativity and innovation leadership, is able to come up with and productize new and unique ideas Ability to demonstrate problem solving using logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions Ability to demonstrate process management and figure out processes necessary to get things done Ability to demonstrate technical learning and can learn new skills, knowledge, industry, product or technical knowledge What you’ll get from us: We provide benefits that are industry competitive and focused on employee well-being.
