Alongside our corporate partner, BCG Digital Ventures is launching a stealth startup focused on developing technology to remove the burden of paperwork and digitise risk assessments for fieldworkers in utilities. We are bringing together a cross-disciplinary team of product designers, engineers, business strategists, user-centred designers and technical sales specialists to build ground-breaking tech to address a growing market need. The business is due to launch in early 2020, and will be based in London, UK with some international travel.

We are seeking a Lead UX Designer who is hands on and can drive the UX of the company and product forward. You have a passion for your craft and interacting with users and stakeholders alike. Your capable of providing solid rationale with all decisions and solutions that is grounded in insight. Communicating visually and verbally is second nature to you and rationalising decisions is part of your everyday routine. You understand the importance of a well-designed, consistent product but can work in an environment where business decisions and usability influence the solutions.

What you will do

• Create compelling experiences for both responsive web and native apps
• Be the primary advocate for the end user and educate the wider team on the importance of user-centred design
• Oversee and guide future team members as well as influence the visual design and technology
• Liaise with key stakeholders and communicate the design thinking and rationale
• Conduct user research and provide well informed recommendations in both written and visual format
• Set expectations and estimate time and delivery of UX components with an agile mindset
• Apply appropriate UX design patterns and components to the right product

Desired background

• Sustained experience in designing UX for both desktop and mobile applications
• Outstanding portfolio of prior work that demonstrates strong user-centred capabilities across a range of different projects
• Consistent display of a solid design thinking and process and excellent analog visual communication skills (e.g., sketching)
• Great understanding and skillset with modern design and prototyping software (e.g. Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, InVision, Principle or similar)
• Entrepreneurial interest and business sense
• Expert understanding of information architecture, workflows, concept development and interaction design
• Experience in translating user research and usability test findings into iterative product solutions
• Experience working in agile and lean environments
