Alongside our corporate partner, BCG Digital Ventures is launching a stealth startup focused on developing technology to remove the burden of paperwork and digitise risk assessments for fieldworkers in utilities. We are bringing together a cross-disciplinary team of product designers, engineers, business strategists, user-centred designers and technical sales specialists to build ground-breaking tech to address a growing market need. The business is due to launch in early 2020, and will be based in London, UK with some international travel.

We are seeking a Lead Visual Designer who is hands on and will drive the design of the company and product forward. You have a passion for your craft and create stunning yet functional solutions. Communicating visually and verbally is second nature to you and rationalising decisions is part of your everyday routine. You understand the importance of a well-designed, consistent product but can work in an environment where business decisions and usability influence the solutions. 

What you will do

• Create compelling and efficient experiences for both responsive web and native apps
• Support the Lead UX in advocating for the end user and educate the wider team on the importance of user centred design
• Oversee and guide future team members as well as influence the UX design and technology
• Liaise with key stakeholders and communicate the design thinking and rationale
• Conduct user research and provide well informed recommendations in both written and visual format
• Set expectations and estimate time and delivery of UI components and other design deliverables with an agile mindset
• Be the primary owner of delightful moments throughout the product as well as the visual aspects of the brand

Desired background

• Sustained experience in visual and UI for both desktop and mobile applications
• Outstanding portfolio of prior work that demonstrates strong user-centred as well as visual design capabilities across a range of different project-
• Deep knowledge of visual design theory (e.g., typography, colour theory, composition, iconography, etc.) and excellent analog visual communication skills (e.g., sketching)
• Solid capabilities with modern design and prototyping software (e.g. Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, InVision, Principle or similar)
• Entrepreneurial interest and business sense
• Expert understanding of information architecture, workflows, concept development and interaction design
• Experience in translating user research and usability test findings into iterative product solutions
• Experience working in agile and lean environments
