About the Role:

The Learning and Development Manager will develop, implement and manage learning and development activities to ensure alignment with the mission, values and goals of MaineGeneral Health. This role is responsible for providing strategic direction, guidance and oversight to assess and meet development needs for leaders and employees. Through the design and delivery of learning opportunities, the Learning Development Manager will support organizational performance management, talent management and change management with a strong focus on leadership development.

What You’ll Do:
  • Leadership and Direction – Provide strategic direction and operational leadership to develop, deliver and evaluate development programs. Communicate goals, initiatives, project updates to team, client, and functional leadership.
  • Leadership Development Strategies - Lead efforts to accelerate high potential development and develop a talent pipeline.
  • Leadership Programs - Build leadership capability through programmatic, best-in-class solutions. Manage the learning, intervention, or other solutions that address those needs. Ensure programming is aligned with the overall HR and Talent strategy as well as MGH’s overarching organizational priorities. Exercise sound instructional and information design and understanding of MGH culture, leader expectations, and learning styles in the design.
  • Leadership and Talent Management - Develop and maintain leadership competencies, aligning development solutions with them. Connect leadership learning to annual talent processes, ensuring development resources for leaders in alignment with needs evidenced within the processes.
  • Partnership and Consultation – Act as internal HR expert to HR team. For example, work closely with HR Business Partners to ensure alignment of leadership learning to business plans, people plans, and talent plans. Build and maintain strategic partnerships and consultative relationships, resulting in mutually beneficial outcomes.

What you will need for the position:

  • Experience in education, learning & development, training, and instructional design

  • Deep knowledge and subject matter expertise in leadership and management development and experience in developing impactful leadership development programs and solutions
  • Exceptional ability to deliver inspiring and impactful learning experiences
  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree and 5 years of related work experience
  • Ability to strategically plan, allocate resources, track and measure multiple project efforts, in time and within budget
  • Track record of effective relationship building and consultation with all levels of the organization
  • Prior experience in the healthcare is preferred
  • Professional certification (e.g. Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential) is preferred
