Position Overview:

Siemens Digital Industries is looking for a Legal Counsel to support the Process Automation (DI PA) business unit in the US. In this position, you will directly support the DI PA business operations to address legal and risk issues related to their activities and ensure compliance with Siemens policies. You will be a strategic partner to the business by facilitating commercial transactions, handling matters of moderate to high complexity and identifying and resolving the new legal challenges arising from evolving business and technical needs.

What are your responsibilities?
  • Provide legal support for a diverse business unit that spans several highly regulated vertical markets from pharmaceutical, chemical, and oil & gas to food & beverage, water and wastewater.
  • Independently write, review, analyze, modify and negotiate contractual documents, including non-disclosure agreements, sales contracts, and related documents, to achieve acceptable risk levels.
  • Collaborate and coordinate across departments and throughout a large group of affiliated companies to achieve optimal terms while minimizing risk.
  • Strategically partner with business management to address evolving customer requirements and emerging legal topics.
  • Write, review, analyze, modify and negotiate claims, settlement agreements, changes to existing agreements for service and equipment, and other contractual terms and conditions.
  • Summarize and prepare risk analyses for review and approval by management and suggest innovative ways to deal with contract requirements and risk exposures to managers responsible for the contracts.
  • Ensure all bids/contracts comply with limits of authority directive. Guide review of specifications issued by purchasers; prepare customized commercial sections of bid reports.
  • Recommend deviations from limits of authority directive and prepare letters for appropriate management approvals.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% (post COVID)
Required Experience, Skills/Knowledge and Education:
  • JD degree and an Attorney admitted to practice in good standing.
  • 7+ years of extensive experience with complex legal topics, including those related to cybersecurity & data security, regulatory compliance, federal government contracting, claims management, product liability and litigation.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to draft and negotiate contractual documents, analyze and implement contractual responsibilities, identify and evaluate risks relative to different scopes of work and assist in claims management process.
  • Flexibility to adjust and thrive in an environment with changing requirements, schedules and priorities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and have a strong collaboration mindset that supports teamwork, including the ability to be both a project leader or contributor, as appropriate.
