Job Description
Albemarle Corporation is seeking an attorney to become part of Albemarle’s global legal team. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual with a broad commercial legal background. The candidate will provide legal support on a wide range of legal matters in relation to our operations and activities in Europe, primarily in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, as well as in the Middle East. The role will be based out of our manufacturing facility in Amsterdam, Holland.
Primary Responsibilities:
Advice on, drafting and review of Commercial Contracts providing end-to-end legal support with contract reviews and negotiations in line with legal requirements and the company’s commercial standards (approximately 60-80% of time)
Support Amsterdam manufacturing facility, occasionally operations in Germany, on Supplier/Procurement Contracts
Support all our global GBUs on negotiations of sales agreements, often based on our forms
Typically partner and collaborate with the appropriate functional and business resources for review/ negotiation of agreements
Employment Law Support (20-30% of time)
Answering ad hoc employment law questions, primarily in support of Albemarle’s Amsterdam manufacturing facility, but may also include advice on Belgium employment law matters
Environmental Law Support (approximately 5-15% of time)
Ad-hoc questions and advice, primarily for Albemarle’s Amsterdam manufacturing facility
The position will also require the budgeting and management of outside counsel relationships on a variety of matters
Requirements:
Top academic results
Licensed to practice law in the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Luxemburg, Belgium or France
Master of Laws degree from English language university is advantageous
At least 5 years PQE in a comparable sized company or international law firm
Fully fluent in written and spoken English; the majority of the work is English
Attention to detail, self-initiative, and the ability to work independently in an energetic, highly collaborative, multicultural, and international team environment
Strong communication and negotiation skills, and ability to interact and build trust across all levels of our business
Self-motivated with the capability for separating the important from the urgent
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Familiarity with Apptus contract management software and Legal Tracker preferred, but not required
