Eaton’s diverse Law Team specializes in a variety of practice areas, including Ethics & Compliance, Tax & Internal Transactions, Competition & Trade Regulation, Securities, Intellectual Property, Employment & Benefits, Litigation, Environmental Health & Safety, and Mergers & Acquisitions. Additionally, each Eaton division has its own business counsel to address complex contract negotiations, commercial disputes, employment matters, and day-to-day legal inquiries. Job Responsibilities An Eaton Law Team summer intern will work on a variety of matters across practice areas and will conduct legal research, draft documents, present research results, assist with contract review and negotiations, prepare training materials and corporate policies, and participate in strategic Law Team initiatives supporting disruptive technology development. You will also observe and support the Law Team’s collaboration with Eaton division leaders to achieve key strategic initiatives. The successful internship candidate is one who is: (1) a creative and strategic thinker; (2) an effective oral and written communicator; (3) receptive to feedback; (4) a team player; and (5) able to successfully manage competing priorities. Responsibilities: Assist with matters and Special Projects as assigned. Conduct legal research on various issues. Identify legal trends in relevant subject matters. Draft memoranda and project summary Reports. Review and synthesize information retrieved from various legal and non-legal databases. Interact and liaison with Eaton lawyers and staff and outside law firms as directed. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Actively enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited institution. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher (please don't round). Relocation is not provided for this role, the candidate must be located within 50 miles of Beachwood, OH. Preferred Qualifications: A rising junior or senior in the top half of their class. Excellent research and writing skills. Superior organizational and time-management skills. Ability to think critically and utilize problem-solving and decision-making skills. Capacity to read and understand legal documents. Capability to work independently and in a team dynamic. Strong, persuasive verbal and written communication skills. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn online legal research platforms. Prior experience (discovery, briefing, research) through other employment experience not necessary but would be a plus.
