JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent will be responsible for the overall strategic direction and management of the companys North China Logistics Operations, including the distribution center, demand & supply, and service quality assurance. He is accountable for the entire regions P&L and will manage the day-to-day operations in alignment with the companys overall strategy and performance standards.
He will work closely with the General Manager, North China and other executives of the company to support and drive the business including new business development, contact negotiations and building customer relations. He/she will translate company strategy and business decisions into actions and ensures implementation and follow up throughout the company.
He will be driving process, system and organizational improvements in the company to ensure that internal company Operations operate efficiently and effectively and in line with the companys overall China policies and standards, with the ultimate aim to deliver first class distribution and logistics services to the customers at the lowest possible cost.
The Director is number two in the North China organization structure and has a key roll to assist the General Manager to develop a strong organization through coaching, training and organizational development. He will support the General Manager to develop the companys culture and implement best management practices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Areas of Responsibility
  • Overall responsible for the Operations, including development, implementation and achieving strategies, plans and functional budgets.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day Company Operations, including warehousing, logistics, QA, and demand & supply.
  • Establish and maintain an industry leading road based network & operations in China to collect and deliver consignments on time and in perfect condition thereby enabling the business unit to meet annual service quality and unit cost targets using value based management principles.
  • Develop and lead improvement, simplification and standardization of processes and systems. Responsible for business process reengineering. Carry out benchmarking and raise Operations to first class standards using information technology and best practices.
  • Take ownership of successful deployment with the business unit of the agreed divisional process for delivering on time and in perfect condition.
  • Participate and co-develop distribution and logistics business. Including building relationships, contract negotiations and implement contractual obligations.
  • Align objectives, practices and systems throughout the Group
  • Develop individuals and teams through training, coaching and organizational development.
  • Spearhead or assist projects and initiatives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Business Administration or Operations Research

  • Proven track record with more than 7 years or more in senior management capacity and working experience in a distribution, trading or 3rd party logistics multinational environment

  • Strong knowledge of concurrent process and supply chain and logistics design, tactics and strategies.

  • China experience preferred with first class public relations skills and be effectively bi-lingual in English and Chinese (Mandarin).

  • Strategic process thinking skills and good business acumen in identifying business opportunities or improvements.

  • Possess good finance skills to understand key cost structures and budgetary controls.

  • Strong skills in enforcing discipline and standardizing procedures and process yet staying flexible to cope with changing demands.

  • Excellent leadership in performance management, defining and setting directions and leading others with the attitude to get things done and stay done. Must be able to tolerate ambiguity.

  • Possess authority and show initiative, able to work under pressure and have an open mind to new concepts and changes.

  • High energy, stress resistant and be sufficiently hands-on. Knows when it is important to go for details and when a big picture perspective is important.

  • Good interpersonal, communication (both verbal and written), and persuasive skills in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external parties.

  • A people developer and team player with excellent interpersonal skills to work with people across functions.
