Logistics Specialist- Day Shift

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with clients, couriers and other operational departments
- Verify that quality assurance checks are completed and maintained
- Maintain accurate logs of all transportation and goods
- Determine and maintain product classifications for import/export shipments
- Complete freight claims for damaged shipments
- Coordinate domestic, international, and warehouse transfer shipments
- Coordinate internally managed orders
- Coordinate the movement of externally processed WIP and act as the primary point of contact with the supplier regarding the movement of materials
- Communicate daily with carriers and freight forwarders, in coordinating pickup and delivery of shipments
- Prepare and process required documentation; examples: commercial invoices, export documentation, certificates of origin, and bills of lading
- Provide rate quotes per customers’ requests for both current and future shipments
- Maintain standard operating procedures to reflect current processes
- Validate all freight bill & coding as deemed necessary from third party billing provider and corporate finance
- Manage and maintain all record keeping requirements in accordance with Thermo Fisher policy
- Work closely with our warehouse personnel to ensure they have all documentation required to prepare shipment and understand regulatory requirements
- Determine load size and special handling requirements to optimize the best carrier for movement of goods
- Participate in PPI to continually improve processes
- May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must be organized and logical, willing to adapt quickly to changing policies and procedures
- Must be able to work as part of a team in a fast paced and pressured environment, communicating effectively with both colleagues and clients and following verbal and written instructions
- Must be able to efficiently solve problems relating to sales, finance and transportation of goods in locations both national and overseas
- Must have excellent computer skills and be able to operate Microsoft Office and be familiar with any other software pertinent to the position
- Must have very strong spreadsheet skills (Excel).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills
Minimum: Requirements/Qualifications:
2 years at university or college or 2 years of office experience
