Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE: APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, is seeking an experienced Field Maintenance Technician for Southern California.
 
This job is based out of the home/residence.
 
The successful candidate will be responsible to provide necessary technical and hands-on support to maintain and troubleshoot Air Products equipment for the rapidly developing Hydrogen Fueling and supply systems located at our transfills and customer sites.
 
Hydrogen Fueling Systems are complex systems that in many cases have a direct retail customer interface at the dispenser. The successful individual will have responsibility for all aspects of system support including data collection, system performance reporting, instrumentation, installation, maintenance support, and assistance with product line improvements.
 
The candidate must be self-motivated, safety conscious, a good communicator, and possess good electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills. The position requires after-hours availability on a rotating basis with the other technicians in the area to respond to various types of service situations. Local travel in a company vehicle is required, and occasional travel outside the immediate area.
 
Qualifications / requirements:
  • 1-3 years previous maintenance and mechanical experience in a plant maintenance environment, or a High School diploma followed by technical school or apprenticeship training, or military experience relating to electrical/mechanical maintenance. Candidates with SkillsUSA membership and the ability to demonstrate Employability and Leadership competencies are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for collaborating with customers and internal staff to include report development and other required administrative functions.
  • Capability, flexibility and willingness to adjust to new technologies and apply prior knowledge.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of equipment using the appropriate tools and test equipment. A background in maintaining electronic controls, pneumatic systems, pumps, pressure vessels, reciprocating and centrifugal compressors is preferred.
  • PLC, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting are a plus.
