Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position manages all finance matters related to the Company’s multi-billion dollar worldwide pension and savings plan assets.  Major areas of accountability include development of Company funding and de-risking policies, development and execution of asset allocation strategies, identification and recommendations for hiring and monitoring of investment managers and providing and advice to the Company, the Pension Investment Committee and the U.K. Pension Trustees. Pension plan assets include US Defined Benefit Plans, US Defined Contribution Plans, UK Defined Benefit Plans, and other global plans.
 
 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
 
  • Develop, recommend and implement policies and guidelines to ensure optimal funding of the Company’s defined benefit plans.
  • Develop, implement and manage de-risking glide paths for defined benefit plans.
  • Develop the asset allocation policy proposals for defined benefit plans and recommend to the Pension Investment Committee and U.K. Plan Trustees the investment classes and investment firms to be used in the global retirement and savings plans.
  • Monitor the performance of investment managers and, when necessary, recommend and implement changes.
  • Manage the Company’s global actuarial engagement from a funding and valuation perspective, interpret actuarial data and reports and project pension cost and funding requirements.
  • Issuance of regular reports to the Pension Investment Committee and active planning and facilitation of the Pension Investment Committee meetings.
  • Prepare pension related analyses as required and provide internal pension related advice.
  • Direct the Financing/Capital Markets Analyst on pension related activities (approximately 50% of this person’ job responsibilities).
  • Oversight and management of the Air Products Foundation investment program as a member of the Foundation Investment Committee.
 
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES REQUIRED
 
  • This position requires an MBA with at least 10+ years of advanced financial analysis experience. 
  • Prior experience in the areas of defined benefit pension plans and investments is required. 
  • The position’s frequent interaction with senior level people both internally and externally make strong interpersonal and communication skills mandatory.
  • Strong and effective team and leadership skills.
