This position provides environmental, health, safety, and security leadership to the site.  Individual is accountable for effectively managing MESH resource: ensuring programs to meet EHS objectives and targets are implemented; internal reporting of EHS performance; communication of European and German regulatory requirements, ensuring documents and records are available.  Position is responsible for: maintaining site systems to ISO/OHSAS certifications standards; assuring accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics; assuring MESH and regulatory agency findings are monitored and reported to the site on a timely basis; completion of required EHS training for EHS site personnel; managing interfaces with the public and governmental authorities with adverse findings and enforcement actions; directing actions during crises; site security, creating a strong EHS culture that engages employees throughout the site in EHS teams and processes.
 

Your Key Deliverables

  • Manages and directs EHS resources to ensure programs are supported which enable the site to achieve its EHS targets & objectives.
  • Facilitates programs at the location to identify critical EHS hazards and aspects.  Works with Site management, Leadership Team, Mesh functional management, ISO -Team and Site - Facility to ensure targets and objectives based on key EHS risks are achievable.
  • Ensures EHS training needs are identified and programs are implemented to ensure relevant EHS competency throughout the site.
  • Ensures that local and corporate reporting metrics are submitted on time
  • Works with MESH element champions to ensure they knowledgeable and have defined programs to support the site in meeting its targets and objectives.
  • Ensures programs are implemented, which drives and promotes zero incident EHS culture throughout site.
  • Manages the EHS resources to ensure standard work requirements are met, and assigned projects are prioritized and completed.
  • Ensures EHS resources are effectively deployed to complete annual self- and validated Mesh Assessment and evaluation.
  • Prepares and submits data for EHS reviews to meet regulatory, company and ISO/OHSAS requirements
  • Ensures systems to identify, evaluate, investigate, manage change, manage corrective and preventative actions are monitored, reviewed and their performance reported to the Site Management.
  • Evaluates EHS resource performance in order to facilitate performance management.
  • Work with and supports sites leadership teams to ensure that activities are monitored and opportunity’s for improvements are identified.

Required

  • Comprehension of industry, state, and country EHS requirements
  • Strong team-building skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Adept at utilization of company-wide system for reporting EHS data and information
  • Ability to demonstrate managerial skills (e.g., managing varied interests representing potential conflicts)
  • Ability to support cross-functional EHS teams
  • Prior experience or education with an emphasis in environmental, health and safety program management and employee training
  • Strong experience in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental discipline or equivalent
  • Advanced degree or professional certification (Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or country equivalent where available) -encouraged, or candidate must have willingness to pursue.
