Launch and Series Change Coordination

The Launch Coordination department is responsible for the coordination and steering of new product/derivative launches in plant Oxford. The department is divided into six key areas:

  • Project steering – Administration and project management of new vehicle launches into Oxford.
  • Launch Steering – Validation planning of new content.
  • IPT (Integration Parts Process) – Management and steering of new components.
  • SIT (Systems Integrations Team) - Management and steering of new electronically diagnosable components.
  • Technology Steering – Management of the budget and head count.
  • Launch/Series Change Co-ordination - Preparation of validation activities for bill of material checks.

 

The student will provide support to the Launch and Change Co-ordination department, which is responsible for the introduction of technical modifications into pre-series as well as series cars in Plant Oxford. The intern will overtake specific projects depending on ongoing needs of the department.

What will you be doing? 

  • Coordination & issue of Build Lists/parts call offs for MINI pre-series vehicle builds and maintaining the departments Key Performance measures.
  • Executing and communicating key reports, identifying opportunities to develop these further with the aid of data analytics and a process improvement mindset.
  • Supporting the processing of new change content from the central BMW technologies (incl. Networking with German colleagues)
  • Supporting the organisation and running of key meetings within the project management structure on a weekly basis
  • Shadowing and supporting the departmental functions
  • Involvement on the management of the Departmental vehicle fleet including maintenance activities.
  • Supporting activities relating to audit readiness.
  • Leading departmental housekeeping activities (5S process)
  • Maintaining a flexible work methodology to allow additional tasks to be undertaken on demand.
  • Study towards a 2:2 or above degree or equivalent in Business Studies, Industrial Engineering with Business Studies or mechanical engineering;
  • You must be able to provide proof of your legal right to work in the UK;
  • You must be returning to your studies after completion of the internship;
  • Have fluent Communication skills
  • Be an experienced Microsoft Office user;
  • Have an enthusiastic approach, be a good team player and display a willingness to integrate and learn;
  • Knowledge in programming Excel (VBA) would be beneficial;
  • Awareness / curiosity into data analytics will prove useful.
  • Responsibility (e.g. reliable, conscientious, self-disciplined)
