Resistance and Laser Welding Analysis
Welding and other joining technologies are key processes within Body in White. In collaboration with external partners we have identified a project to reduce our resistance welding expulsion and to optimize the quality and RFT for the laser welding process, whilst promoting Excellence and knowledge in the UK.
The project will be run across both our Oxford and Swindon sites and will focus on resistance and Laser welding technologies.
What will you be doing?
- Weld process analysis with our specialists to identify current issues and potential improvements.
- Work with external companies on data collection, analysis and verification.
- Represent BMW at project meetings to discuss progress, agreeing next steps and escalations.
- Support the decision-making process on Top 5 projects.
- Work with The Welding Institute in both Oxford, Swindon and potentially Cambridge to analyse data and identify potential risks.
- Support project timeline planning and agreement of milestones.
- Complete training on the technologies and provide support across relevant departments with the knowledge gained.
- Support other BIW requirements where required.
- Undertaking a Bachelor’s Engineering degree and is progressing towards a minimum 2:1 pass or completed a Bachelors Engineering Degree and is intending to start a Master’s Degree upon completion of their internship.
- Mechanical engineering experience would be advantageous but not essential
- Have good IT and communication skills.
- A good team player.
- Highly self-motivated.
- Can demonstrate the ability to work to deadlines on their own and as part of a team.
- Ability to think logically but also bring innovative ideas to problem solutions.
