MTS System Design Engineer(PPO)

 

THE ROLE:

AMD Graphic Platform engineering PPO team is seeking an experienced engineer to lead the Power/Performance analysis and optimization for dGPU. PPO team is responsible to power bring up team (ASIC design, board design, VBIOS, driver, Diagnostic, etc.) for GPU chips bring-up, feature enablement and optimization, issue debug, power measurement and customer support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Power/Performance optimization for dGPU products
  • Develop test plan and execute Power & Performance Testing efficiently with automation test environment
  • Drive cross function team to debug and troubleshooting system level issues
  • Responsible for post-silicon activities related to Power/Performance targets
  • Co-work with design team (SOC, IPs owner, Power Arch) to analyze the pre-silicon data vs post-silicon data, to improve accuracy of pre-silicon.
  • Create power modeling.
  • Improve the automation test environment to speed up the progress of collection power/performance data.
  • Support IP design team to define IP power validation test plan for post-silicon
  • Lead ASIC/ IP feature power validation and delivery on time.
  • Lead dGPU project end to end. 
  • Work with characterization team to figure out the optimized clocks/voltages for power feature

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Candidate must have working knowledge of CPU, GPU, and system architectures and their implications on system power and performance.
  • Knowledge in BIOS, device driver, application software, benchmark software, and how they interact with hardware is preferred.
  • Experience with scripting languages: Perl, Python, Ruby
  • Hands-on lab experience with a focus on power and performance data collection and analysis, any one of ASIC bring up, graphics, power management, PCI-E, and DDR/GDDR memories is a plus
  • Familiar with schematic / PCB layout
  • Strong leadership for issue debug and program driving
  • Excellent verbal communication and written, presentation skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced matrixed technical organization and multi-site environment

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • An Electrical/Computer Engineering Bachelor's degree plus 8 years, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • A Master's degree plus 5 years of experience is acceptable
