Position: MYP English Language and Literature Teacher(IB Curriculum)
We are seeking a passionate, innovative, and highly qualified MYP English Language and Literature teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students in Grades 7-9 to develop a deep appreciation for language and literature, become critical readers, and become effective, articulate communicators. A commitment to concept-driven, inquiry-based learning within the MYP framework is essential. Additionally, the candidate will serve as a Homeroom Teacher, acting as the primary pastoral and academic point of contact for a group of students.
Job Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning:
The full-time teaching load for this role is a maximum of 24 teaching periods per week.
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for MYP English Language and
Literature classes (Grades 7-9).
Utilize a wide range of teaching strategies to cater to diverse learner profiles, including EAL students. Integrate the MYP concepts and Global Contexts into all units of study.
Foster a classroom environment that promotes a love for reading, critical thinking, and
intellectual curiosity.
Explicitly explore diverse perspectives, cultures, and voices through the selection of texts and classroom discourse.
Encourage students to consider their own perspectives and the perspectives of others in the analysis of literature and language. Curriculum and Assessment:
Develop and implement unit plans, following MYP guidelines, that incorporate a
balanced range of texts, including a core commitment to whole-book studies. Design and implement rigorous assessments according to school assessment policy that
provide timely and constructive feedback to students. Where appropriate, integrate task types and success criteria that mirror those of major
standardized tests (such as IELTS and TOEFL) to familiarize students with these formats
and build test-taking confidence. Maintain accurate records of student progress and use data to inform instructional
decisions. Whole-Book Reading Program: Teach and champion the school's core literary texts. Guide students through close reading, literary analysis, and thematic exploration of
substantial works, moving beyond comprehension to deeper interpretation and
evaluation. Select and incorporate supplementary texts (non-fiction, poetry, short stories, media)
that connect to and enrich the core novels. Homeroom Teacher Role: Act as the primary pastoral and academic mentor for a designated class of students, fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive homeroom community together with the local
homeroom teacher. Deliver the school's pastoral curriculum and lead homeroom sessions focused on social- emotional learning, character development, and academic organization. Monitor the overall academic progress and well-being of each student in the homeroom, providing guidance and early intervention where needed. Serve as the first and primary point of contact for parents regarding their child's general
well-being and overall progress within the school. Student Support and Supervision:
Co-curricular Engagement: Lead or actively support two Extra-curricular Activities (ECAs) per academic year, aligned
with the school's co-curricular program. Community and Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with colleagues in the English department and across other
subject groups to develop interdisciplinary units (IDUs). Participate actively in departmental meetings, professional development, and school
events. Maintain regular and proactive communication with parents regarding student progress
and curriculum. Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree or above (major in Education or related subject preferred);
2. With QTS/ PGCE//TEFL/national teaching certification;
3. At least 3 years of teaching experience in related fields;
4. IB/international school teaching experience preferred;
Salary and Benefits:
Monthly salary RMB 25000 to 30000 before tax;
