About The Role:

The role of Machine Learning Quality Manager is a complex one and you can be sure that routine is not on the menu. In a nutshell, the new colleague will tackle the world of machine learning and focus on both quality assurance and vendor care. What do our vendors do? Imagine tasks like matching an audio track with a song title or creating several variations of the same question – basically, anything to help the search engines work better. As a Machine Learning Quality Manager, you’d be responsible for suggesting the right vendors on specific tasks, you’ll benchmark the target productivity, create guidelines and trainings, and provide feedback. For our team, nothing is set in stone and each task is a new challenge, so it’s a great opportunity for someone with drive who enjoys independence in their work. On the other hand, we have a great team of senior colleagues here, so be sure you’ll be fully supported in your first steps!

Responsibilities: 

•    Vendor care and vendor coordination – suggesting the right vendors for each task within a specific budget, providing trainings and creating guidelines, providing feedback and setting up improvement plans for those who are struggling.
•    Quality assurance – you will assess needs for QA processes (e.g. how expert vendors can review other people’s output) and maintain QA tool set-up and update it for each task so that QAers can use it efficiently (e.g. adjusting QA sample size, creating error categories for each task). If needed, you may assist with quality assurance yourself.
•    Process improvements - you will continuously analyze internal processes and suggest improvements.
•    Act as a subject matter expert for Machine Learning services – you’ll monitor industry trends and our competitors and come up with strategies for how to handle new tasks. We have a lot of space for your own creativity there!
    
Requirements:

•    Proficient written and spoken English (C1 level necessary)
•    Experience with creating training materials and with giving trainings (in writing, in person, on call - ideally in English for non-native speakers)
•    You should be independent, proactive, and comfortable with making decisions on your own
•    You should be comfortable with multitasking / changing focus and priorities in short notice, good in stress management
•    You should be good at communication and providing comprehensible feedback, have attention to detail

Preferable, but not required:

•    Experience with setting up and improving team processes, especially for quality management in data collection, data annotation, data validation and similar workflows. Note that this doesn’t necessarily mean linguistic data as many tasks may relate to images or audio clips as well.
•    Advanced computer skills, e.g. spreadsheets, presentations, audio/video- or photo-editing programs
•    Education or coaching degree, or relevant experience
•    Experience with creating content for and in setting up e-learning platforms
•    Experience with leading teams (including freelancers or during free-time activities)
•    Experience working in a multi-national team across time zones
•    Experience in dealing with external vendors and/or clients in difficult situations

Completely not necessary but very nice to have:

•    Working knowledge of other languages (esp. Japanese, Hindi or other languages in India, Swahili or other languages in Africa, Spanish, German, French)
•    Working or beginner knowledge (or even simple interest) in SQL, PowerShell, C#, JavaScript, Java, Python, Google Apps Script, Google Data Studio or Microsoft PowerBI
