What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role within Amgen Research, you will apply machine learning expertise to develop predictive and generative models for molecular designs, in collaboration computational chemists and experimental scientists, across broad small molecule drug discovery research. The key responsibilities include,

  • Develop and optimize machine learning models, e.g., GNN, transformer, etc., for ligand-protein interaction and molecular property predictions
  • Develop and optimize deep learning based generative models for molecular designs
  • Apply machine learning models to active drug discovery projects, in collaboration with physical modeling scientists and experimental scientists

Basic qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master’s degree and 4 years of machine learning experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of machine learning experience

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD in Computational Sciences, Applied Math, Statistics, or related quantitative fields
  • Strong track record of research accomplishment with a minimum of three scientific publications or conference presentations in the field of machine learning
  • Extensive expertise in machine learning techniques, especially deep learning techniques (e.g., GNN, transformer, RL, generative models)
  • Experience with UNIX, Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras
  • Experience in applying machine learning to study molecular systems preferred but not required
  • Strong communication and technical leadership skills and enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary team environment
