Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Machinist and Tooling Technician to join our team. This position is based at our Amarillo, TX facility. This position starts at $20.62/hr Position Overview: The primary function of this role is to perform a variety of duties to operate machinery in our tooling department. In this function you will: Support Foundry operations by cleaning and repairing Foundry tools: primarily coreboxes, coremasks and patterns Repairs often require a lot of detailed hand work: sanding, filing, fitting, etc. Repairs often require mixing and using resins and epoxies Support Foundry operations by building new tooling as needed: primarily coremasks, dovetails, rails and blowplates Help to troubleshoot tooling or production issues when they have been identified in any of the production processes: primarily core, mold, machining, and assembly Troubleshooting at the production machines is required Working near liquid metal is required while troubleshooting Foundry issues Small/quick repairs of tools at production machines is required Machine small components to repair Foundry tools: gates, risers, runners, bushings, etc. Machine small parts, components, and fixtures as needed for the production departments using manual lathes, manual mills, band saws, surface grinders, and other machine shop equipment Expected to work with the team and help other team members as needed: the team needs to be able to learn from and teach each other When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution Five years of manual machining experience, or completion of a manual machining program at an accredited school Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of (enter location) will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Preferred qualifications: Experience running 3 axis CNC Mills Experience running 5 axis CNC Mills CNC Programming experience Position Criteria: Must be able to machine new parts/components by taking dimensions from existing parts/components Must be able to set up a machine prior to running: determine how to hold parts securely, what tools to use, what sequence to machine features, etc. Must be proficient reading engineering drawings and be able to build parts/components to meet drawing requirements Must be able to verify part dimensions using vernier calipers, various micrometers, and other gage tools Must understand tolerances and issues associated with tolerance stack Must be able to safely lift and maneuver tools using pallet jacks, hoists, and other material handling devices Must be able to lift/manipulate at least 70 pounds from a workbench Lifting is not repeated or frequent (no more than 10 times per day on average), but manipulating 70-pound plates on a workbench can be frequent Must be able to stand, walk, and work at a workbench, machine, or media blaster for the duration of the shift Ability to perform basic computer functions: use SAP, eSafety, MESH Prism Eaton considers qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with local laws.
