Job Purpose/Overview

Maintenance Stores Leader has 2 primary areas of responsibility:
1.    Day -to- Day operation of the Maintenance stock room and parts inventory to support site Operations & Technical activities.
2.    Development and implementation of ongoing improvements to continuously reduce inventory and drive out costs (MSE)
 

Key Responsibilities

The Maintenance Stores Leader has overall ownership and responsibility for the maintenance stock room and parts inventory, drives and implements continuous improvement to reduce inventory and costs, conducts vendor assurance, and has responsibility for building and material handling maintenance.

•    Oversees Stores Activities including overseeing contractor support within stores.  
•    Organize and maintain the stock room and any offsite storage locations
•    Receive parts in system, send parts out for rebuild, set up new parts (physically and in system), remove obsolete parts (physically and in system)
•    Conduct audits and cycle counts on parts inventory
•    Responsibility for annual cost improvements in stores and parts inventory
•     Maintains strong mutuality based relationships with suppliers and contractors
•    With Commercial, negotiate favourable terms with key suppliers and vendors for stores inventory
•    Attend shift and reliability meetings in order to stay on top of issues and know how best to support site needs
•    Develop alternate suppliers and conduct vendor assurance where/when required
•    Organizes and implements the necessary maintenance, reliability and CI programs for Site non-production assets;

•    Assist as required in cafeteria, lab, office assets, dock levellers, doors, trash compactors, FLT and Material Handling equipment maintenance.
•    Train associates on proper use of stockroom processes
•    Be available and on-call to address urgent issues and expedite parts delivery as necessary
•    Provides assistance during plant technical emergencies. 
•    Participates in special assignments or projects, as required.

 

All Other Duties & Responsibilities as assigned
•    Responsible for following all Quality and Food Safety Policies and applicable procedures
•    The associate ensures Food Safety requirements are effectively performed.  
•    This includes training of other associates on the Food Safety & Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), ensuring CCP monitoring is in effect and continuous improvement of the process with any changes to our working environment is practiced
 

Context and Scope

•    Establishes vendor contacts, searches for parts and service when necessary, arranges transportation and customs clearance as required.
•    Site “subject matter expert” for purchasing and material management software systems
•    Responsibility for driving Continuous Improvement program with respect to the Maintenance stockroom, as measured by year on year stockroom inventory value and turns.
•    Analyze stockroom activity in conjunction with Site Reliability issues and identify opportunities to reduce or eliminate parts inventories. Take calculated intelligent risks and get necessary input from other stake holders.
•    Identify and implement opportunities for vendors to carry parts inventory for us.
•    Identify and implement opportunities for alternative sourcing of parts (local versus oversees) with the goal of reducing cost, lead time and necessary inventory levels.
•    Organize the kitting of parts in preparation for PM days

 

Education and Professional Qualifications

    18 years of age or older
     Minimum Secondary School diploma required
    Post-secondary education (Mechanical/Electrical Eng) or other technical equivalent
    An understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and terminology. 
    Licensed in a mechanical or electrical trade an asset.
    Proficiency in MS software (Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook, Teams)
    Experience with creating and maintaining controlled documentation
    Experience in creating and managing Purchase Orders, tracking budgets, and using PO software
    Experience using 5S or equivalent organization tools
    Utilizing knowledge of Q/FS systems.  
 

Knowledge and Experience

    Strong troubleshooting skills required
    A professional phone presence and ability to interact comfortably and influence all levels of the business and outside vendors.
    Proven ability to optimize equipment to meet or exceed product specifications, schedule, and planned rates
    Proven organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop and implement complex systems and procedures.
    Familiar with International courier shipment protocols. I.e. waybill requirements, Commercial Invoices, Tariff regulations, etc.
    Strong technical problem-solving skills & computer literacy
    Expertise in stores systems; preferred receiving systems and CMMS
    Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
      Able to operate a forklift
