Maintenance Person - Full Time
You perform highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain the property’s facilities and equipment to ensure a safe and functional environment for the guests.

What you will be doing:

- Inspect and perform preventative maintenance on property’s facilities and equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair property mechanical equipment including, but not limited to: kitchen and laundry systems, plumbing mechanical systems, electrical systems, and HVAC
- Actively participate as a member of the Emergency Response and Crisis Team.
- Supporting Engineering Department Health & Safety program.
- Actively participating and promoting the Fairmont Pacific Rim vision, environmental program and sustainable operations, and assisting in developing and monitoring the hotel’s energy management goals.
- Inspect all areas of the property for safety issues and take immediate corrective action
- Assist guests regarding property facilities in an informative and helpful way
Your experience and skills include:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a related maintenance/engineering field.
- 4th Class Power Engineer’s certificate or Trade certification is preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
- Knowledgeable in all regulations such as building codes, fire and health department requirements.
- Knowledge of energy management and digital control systems.
- Pool operator’s certificate and experience in pool maintenance and pool chemistry is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be physically fit
- Must be a strong troubleshooter
- Must be a self-starter and motivator
- Willingness to work weekends, extended hours and be available for emergencies
- Previous hotel work experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of word processing applications, spread-sheeting applications, industry related software applications and e-mail applications.
- Highly organized, and results oriented.
- Able to maintain a positive and objective outlook in challenging situations and possess strong leadership abilities.
- Leads by example by displaying a high standard of performance with the ability to communicate these expectations to the team.
