Job Description:
As a member of the Culture and Counsel platform, the Manager, Employee Relations & Engagement will be responsible for advising on and conducting sensitive investigations of potential policy and/or Code of Conduct violations, developing Employee Relations capability, as well as, leading initiatives to strengthen culture programs focusing on ethical business practices in Singapore, Malaysia, India, Australia and New Zealand.
The position requires the ability to quickly issue-spot complex employment and Employee Relations matters and develop and implement sound, balanced, and thorough solutions aligned with our cultural values. Successful candidates must have excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and the ability to successfully work with multiple internal stakeholders, business leaders and outside counsel to create effective and efficient partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advocates for the ethics hotline and coordinates the associated investigations; provides advice to HR Partners on how to manage and conduct investigations and other formal ER procedures in difficult cases including disciplinary, grievance, capability (performance or ill health absence management); partner with HR to deliver consistent employee relations practices which are sustainable, executable and flexible.
- Coordination and facilitation of investigation training and other ER training initiatives to deliver best practice investigation tools and knowledge to the HR team.
- Preparation of HR template toolbox materials (invitations to disciplinary and grievance hearings, investigation meeting minutes, investigation outcome reports, disciplinary decision letters, etc)
- Provide thought leadership on embedding a true continuous performance improvement culture, including review and management of updates to Performance Improvement program procedures and associated supporting Performance Improvement Plan materials including Manager and HR training materials.
- Partner with HR leaders on the development and implementation of ER and Engagement actions for focus sites
- Conduct organizational risk/culture assessment to improve employee engagement at worksites
- Assess, develop training, and lead initiatives that strengthen culture programs focusing on ethical business practices
- HR policies including periodic reviews and improvement recommendations in Singapore, Malaysia, India, Australia and New Zealand
- Point of liaison for the Senior Director, Global Employee Relations on internal investigation reporting and analytics.
- Partner internally with Country HR leaders, the Employment law and compliance teams, Internal Audit, and other internal stakeholders as appropriate to achieve responsibilities.
Minimum Requirements
- Track record of influencing and providing consultative guidance to senior management around complex organizational issues.
- Extensive experience conducting and managing corporate investigations of complex and confidential workplace complaints.
- Be a team player with a flexible, adaptable and results-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently and in a group setting with little direction and without direct supervision.
- Experience with building ER capability and developing and delivering training on a variety of employment issues.
- Demonstrated and sophisticated ability to independently identify and analyze correct issues and problems and develop and influence appropriate business solutions and plans of action.
- Ability to research information and analyze data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations, and plans of action.
- Strong project management, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong partnering, diplomacy, collaboration, communication, and influencing skills.
- Ability to handle highly sensitive information with absolute confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ability to multitask, deal with ambiguity, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated orientation to flexibility and adaptability to changing business conditions and needs.
- Ability to quickly conceptualize, think critically, and develop frameworks.
- Fluid and persuasive technical writing skills.
- Expert level applied knowledge of employee relations issues (including performance management), risk management practices, investigative practices, and employment law.
- Strong understanding of Asia Pacific countries’ local employment laws preferred
