Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager position reports into the Senior Manager Engineering under at the Amgen Ohio facility. This position requires the application of diverse and advanced engineering and scientific principles in support of commercial GMP Final Drug Product (FDP) operations in the Amgen Ohio manufacturing facility.

The position is expected to travel for approximately 25%.

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this role, the Manager Engineering is responsible for maintenance support assignments at Amgen’s manufacturing site in Ohio. The position is a key role in the Engineering group and the candidate must manage and/or apply extensive technical expertise in the coordination of multiple, sophisticated, non-routine maintenance tasks of systems.

Maintenance Management

Key responsibilities will include providing leadership and technical expertise for maintenance strategy for equipment and systems. Recommend and support the implementation of improvements to maintenance instructions including Job Plans, Spare Parts Lists, HECPs, and Forms. Own selected maintenance SOPs and recommend and implement improvements. Recommend and implement improvements to timing and coordination of maintenance activities. Provide field support to identify and resolve equipment and maintenance-related issues. Provide support to improve safety, compliance, efficiency, and effective execution of maintenance work orders. Evaluate equipment and instrumentation maintenance and failure history and recommend and implement improvements. Manage selected maintenance contract service providers. The Engineering Manager must ensure effective communication throughout the Amgen commercial site network with all partners and deliver on technical improvements.

Relationships

The Engineering Manager is expected to build a network of maintenance expertise across the Amgen commercial operations for product assembly, label, and packaging. The position is expected to bring to bear this network in support of the equipment maintenance process, and troubleshooting/process improvements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Doctorate degree
• Master’s degree & 3 years of engineering experience
• Bachelor’s degree & 5 years of engineering experience
• Associate degree & 10 years of engineering experience
• High school diploma / GED & 12 years of engineering experience

Preferred Requirements:

• 1+ years of maintenance management experience
• Broad experience with mechanical process equipment and associated maintenance practices
• Troubleshooting, problem-solving and investigational skills related to electro-mechanical equipment
• Experience managing contractors providing maintenance services
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience using the Maximo computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) is preferred
• Strong teamwork, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience in working with third-party vendors and equipment suppliers.
• Ability to learn and rapidly adapt to new requirements in a fast-moving environment.
• A passion to deliver an excellent work product and develop others with an infective positive attitude!
