The purpose of the SAP Application Manager’s role is to Supervise and oversee all of the IT activities and operations associated with the SAP applications.

Key responsibilities include:

• The staffing and management of the technical team.
• Setting direction for the applications.
• The planning and resource management to support key business projects.

This individual will apply proven communication and problem-solving skills to guide and assist the business on opportunities and issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical information and software systems.

Responsibilities:

1 Strategy/Roadmap

Support the creation and implementation of IT Application IT Strategies that are aligned with corporate business strategy and develop strategic application roadmaps to support the strategic direction.

2 Operations

Supervise/run on-going operations for the functional area, compile key metrics to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of IT processes and improve daily operations and project delivery and ensure that an inventory of company software and systems assets is maintained.

3 QMS

Responsible for the application teams training program and compliance with the appropriate regulatory guidelines, QMS (global IT Quality Management System) and IT policies and procedures. Drive resolution of audit findings within agreed timelines..

4 Resource/Matrix Management

Responsible for over-all resource management including assigning resources to daily application support activities (operations) and supporting project activities based on the IT Project Portfolio.

Specifics employee related activities include, talent acquisition, training, career development, providing coaching, performance management (IPM) and compensation. Additionally, as a result of the matrix environment, may support resources from other functional areas.

Resource Managers and direct reports will usually be located within the same region.

5 Business interface/Understanding

Responsible for ensuring an understanding of the business processes within the application team, working with the business (typically mid-level management) to identify opportunities and develop the appropriate business case/demand within the IT process.

6 Project Management

Perform Project Manager Role on an interim basis. Ensuring that project work is completed within budget and on schedule and in accordance with the IT project management methodology as defined in QMS.

7 Tech Knowledge

Propose and assess design solutions based on a working knowledge of current technologies and best practices related to the functional application area. Evaluate vendor technology and consider industry trends and future requirements as defined in the application roadmap.

8 Budget

Participate, as assigned, in the management of specific cost centers, contribute to the annual budgeting process (Opex and Capex), provide periodic forecasts and manage expenses.

9 Vendor Management

Participate in managing the vendor relationship process ( including; selection, negotiation, establishing service levels (SLAs), monitoring and reviewing performance and contract management) for key IT vendors.

10 Application Responsibility

Administers the management of and full SDLC of the Insert-name Applications, which include but are not limited to the following:

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; educational concentration in IT, science or engineering is preferred. Masters degree is preferred.

Experience:

5+ years of experience in IT working within an applicable function that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position, including 2+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience.
