Location & division
The Groningen site is a multi-product and multi-client biopharmaceutical site with development and manufacturing facilities for pharmaceutical products for clinical trials (phase 1, 2 and 3) and commercial production.
 
Department
The Manufacturing Manger Media & Buffer Preparation oversees all aspects with respect to medias and buffers in support of drug substance manufacturing using cell culture technology. The span of control ranges from large scale harvest to final bulk fill. Responsibilities include but are not limited to ensuring safe working conditions, providing technical support, long term planning, resource management, strategy development, and realizing the site production plan
 
What will you do to make an impact?

• The Media and Buffer Preparation (MBP) team supports the Upstream and Downstream departments with preparing, transferring and releasing media to support cell growth and buffers to support antibody purification.
• The Manager will lead of team of 3 Supervisors representing a department of 15 – 18 individuals.
• The Manager should have experience working in a highly regulated industry under ISO or GMP standards.
• Responsible for contributing to and defining - under supervision of the Director Operations - of the Master Production Schedule for Patheon Biologics Groningen, and contribute to the Operations plan, in line with business needs and strategy.
• Stimulate continuous improvement in the production organization and define and execute operational improvement programs.
• Responsible for implementing QESH and security structures and systems, in line with Thermo Fisher Scientific and BG/BU guidelines and systems
• Responsible for hosting audits and customer visits.
• Foster the awareness for SHE and Quality.

• Bachelor or Master of Sciences degree in biology, Biochemistry or Bioprocess Technology.
• 6-9 years of relevant experience, including leadership experience.
• Experience in a Biotech/ Bio pharma/ GMP environment.
• Good leadership and coaching skills.
• Expert in English, both in oral and written communication.
• Good communication and social skills.
• Good planning and organization skills.
• Knowledge and experience in manufacturing of biologics.
